So my tacoma has abt 240,000 miles on it and my upper and lower ball joint boots are torn, same goes for my trailing arm boot. Should i be worried? (My guess is yes but still good to double check).

For the lower ball joint heck yeah. The LBJ was designed poorly and is prone to fail on 1st gen Tacomas.

The only thing it does is allow road slop into where it should not go.

    Causing premature wear .

Yes you can change just the boots But removing the Ball Joints to change boots is kinda dumb .

    Good luck

On the 2wd tacos the upper and lower ball joints are fairly inexpensive...
The preassembled ones are a cake walk to install...
On the upper you just replace the end piece..4 bolts....making it cheap and easy.....

hardest part is separating the balls....which u got to do anyways...

I had a LBJ boot torn prematurely and replaced the rubber boot with a polyurethane part. Of course, it would make more sense to replace a worn joint instead, but the replacement boot lasted until the LBJ wore out in time.

Do you have more information or pictures showing just what you did.

I have never come across anything like this perhaps not looking in the correct place?
