Ive got a 2012 DCLB. Getting ready to spend some coin on her after selling my cherry 02'DSC_0577.jpg
Is anyone running the 18X9 Ballistic jesters? (I plan on lifting it as well)
If so,..how does the truck handle with them, and what offset did you get? (Pics appreciated)
I ask because I used to have a set of Moto metal rims on my 1st gen and they made it handle horribly. Put stock wheels back on in the winter and it handled fine.
Trying to avoid finding that out after buying them.

Why would you go with such a wide wheel? As a rule of thumb, stick to 8" wide or less. What size tires do you plan on running? How much do you plan on lifting.

    umm

unless your metal rims are severely damaged or defective, metal rims don't
deform or have handling issues unless abused or installed incorrectly

you have some other problem than 'steel rims' on the steel set

While I agree with you about the 8" max width ,..it seems that the majority of the 18" wheels out there come in 9" widths. (Which is true of the jesters..only come in 9" widths.)
Lift wil be 3" Toytec Lift front and All-Pro 3" leaf pack rear.
Hopefully someone that actually has the wheels on their truck can chime in with a report.

Dont know where you got "Steel Rims" from. I had Stock alum rims for winter and moto's for summer.

The Moto metals were brand new,..not over-torqued, and in perfect condition.
They didnt vibrate,..just made the truck steer really "weird" Cant explain it any better than that.
I have a feeling that the offset may have had alot to do with it since they were a pretty "deep dish" wheel.

Here's the main difference that I found with these wheels. I needed to remove the front mud flaps, and the front tires still rubbed when reversing at full lock or when flexing when off road. Also due to me having to remove the front flaps, when driving on dirt/gravel roads I could hear small rocks and pebbles getting thrown up on the side of my truck. Which I hated. So I decided to go back to a stock wheel.

For what it's worth, I'm running 265/70/17 Duratracs and I have Bilstein 5100s set at 1.75" up front and a 1.5" progressive AAL in the rear.

Hack,..other than the rubbing, was the steering feel any different?
With a 3" lift,..I dont think I'll be rubbing much if any??

The Toyota wheels are designed with positive offsets, you are switching to a negative offset. This changes the way the wheel pivots in a turn and will change the feel of the steering. Not to mention push the tires out past the truck and pepper the side of your truck with rocks.

I didn't notice any difference in the feel of the steering.
