Does that coilover rebuild look like it's going to be difficult to do? Any special tools needed to rebuild?

some parts are more difficult than others, but it’s not a hard task.

Spring compressor, Face pin spanned wrench, bench vise, small flat head, picks, dead blow, and a couple sizes of wrenches are about all it takes.

And a nitrogen tank / regular with a no loss chuck if you can’t find a shop to charge them with nitrogen

Hopefully I’ll have these rebuilt and my sliders built in the next few weeks. Then I’ll be ready for a test ride.

I haven’t. Matt and I were planning to do it at some point during the Last winter, but there was too much water in the area.

    looks like a fun spot

We are pretty excited for this one. I just hope the water is not too deep.

I don’t mind thick mud, I hate muddy water, gets into your seals and idler pulley and wears them out!

the thick stuff gets all up in your radiator and makes the engine run too hot on a scorching summer day.

I had to turn my truck off and let it cool last time I went wheeling it got so caked up

One thing I've learned from dealing with cooling issues, if your truck ever starts overheating while idling/barely moving, pop it in N and rev the engine up to 3k. Hold it there for a minute or two. The fan will move a bunch of air and the temp will drop very fast. That, and crank your heater if desperate.

I accidentally drilled a hole in my original radiator a month or two ago and once I swapped in the new one, holy crap did my truck run so much cooler.

I wouldn’t have thought about artificially running the fan. That’s a good idea.

dos you get a bigger radiator or go with the same size? I need to pick up a scan gauge to monitor my engine / trans temps off road

The first time my truck overheated I didn't think of it either, I just kept shutting it off to prevent it from climbing anymore. Wasn't until later on that I read that trick on here and it made a whole lot of sense. I went with the same size, whatever brand o-reilly's carry. That bigger aluminum one hangs a couple inches lower and with my front end modifications, it wouldn't have fit.

I recommend an ultraguage personally. I had a SG, but the UG is easier to read and you can set audible alarms for it. I do a good job of monitoring my temp but it's set to alarm if it climbs above 220. It's saved me once before.

Thanks Jeff! I’m happy with the way it’s turning out, and happy that I have built / rebuilt just about everything bolted to the truck.

Is the ultragauge able to read trans temps now? That’s the main reason I was considering the SG over the UG

To be honest I'm not sure because I have a manual, so it's not a concern for me. I *think* one of the models can, but don't hold me to that. It's worth double checking.

really wish I would have just gotten a manual. I got an auto so my wife would be able to drive my truck, but I think she has driven it 4-5 times in the last 4 years.

Even taught her how to drive manual with my old DD
