Just got a set, now it’s time to order some shocks. I’m thinking I’m going to go with a 14” remote resi.

Gonna be tough to squeeze 14” in here but I’m sure it’s been done. They’re designed to work with 12.

    Look into short body 14”
That would be your best chance at fitting them

Yea I saw hammer did it above and it got me thinking haha I built a Chevy years ago and did a full bedcage with shocks coming up through the bed so naturally I want to fit the biggest shock I can on the taco while being an adult and not cutting it up lol

What leaf springs are you running with this set up? Im going for more pre runner longer travel with this truck I’ll have to cycle my leaves before I do any ordering and see what I can do without just chasing travel numbers.

Proably for the better. I stuffed 14” with some custom mounts.
Stock sport rims with 255/80/17 with 1.25” spacers and still rub the shock bodies on flex

Bamf hangers with dakar leafs and hydro bumps. 2.0x2” I’m at ~4-5” up travel and the leafs max out before the shocks.

Unless you have changed the leaf geometry to use a longer leaf you're not going to get more than 12" of travel out of the Tacoma rear suspension.

I've been through 4 packs so far and got between 9.5" and 11.5" of travel. (Two Dakar packs, OEM, and the panda HD pack).

I have Dakar’s, hammer hangers and poly bushings in stock shackles and can easily out flex my 12”. Im limiting up travel by 2.5” over stock iirc and still had to throw on some straps to play it safe.

though as I type this out I guess I did change the geometry a little bit.

I always strapped my setup to 11.5", but never saw those straps under any real tension. As compared to the front that I had to strap back substantially to protect the CVs.

Are you still running rubber bushings in the shackles?

Nope, polly front and back, in BAMF shackles.

I also learned to measure travel with both tires level, not flex with one stuffed and one dropped. As I understand it, youll get more that way, it's more about how hard your stuffing than how much real travel there is.
