Looking for a little help here in sourcing the proper parts for my suspension update. I currently am running OME Front/Rear with the Dakar leaf pack (with the middle leaf removed). I am looking for a better performing/more compliant ride + a bit more travel so I am looking to make the change over to King shocks. While I am at it I am looking to get the BAMF 2nd Gen Shock Relocate Kit. I see what BAMF recommends in terms of shock, but what consideration do I need to take as to which leaf pack I am running?

I don't want to get lost in the weeds here, but I recognize my own weakness when it comes to suspension experience. Anyone care to shed some light on what I should be looking at in terms of which shock to run?

Anything else needed? I'm assuming extended brake lines, but anything else? Do you need to do anything with the drive shaft? Shackle flip?

You definitely need longer lines. I went +3". I would do +4" for piece of mind, but no issues thus far. Nothing on the driveshaft, but you won't be able to mount those Kings without flipping the shackles. It is an all at once deal and not easily incremental. You could extend the lines first, but you wouldn't be able to compress those shocks into the BAMF relocate without flipping the shackle to allow more space.

I sucked at removing my stock mounts and will go back later to clean ugly grinding a welding. Recommend flap disc for grinding and a lift to make it easy. Removing the bed really helps as well, but not impossible with it on.

One last piece, you will also get some rubbing on those smooth 2" shock bodies at full stretch if you don't use spacers. If it just for the street and the occasional urban crawling pic then no worries. Just don't freak out if your tires rub a little on the shock bodies when you get offroad. I have no issues with it since I don't prefer to run spacers.

why can you not mount the Kings without flipping the shackles? pretty sure I've seen that done.

Only thing really needed is extended brake lines, shocks and the relocation kit. I am running fox shocks instead of the kings that are recommended and have no issues other then at full tuck or flex. I'm have a little rubbing on the shock from the tires but that's a wheel and tire issue. I'm planning on doing the shackle flip in the future cause the shackle hanger look ugly with high clearance bumper. If you don't want the shackle flip you don't need to do it.

Also, any flexing, you will destroy the shocks..

Up, but the inverted shackle prevents using even half the shock capability....not sure why you would want to do this unless you were just buying time and phasing the transition to flipping the shackles.

had no idea. I know he flexed his truck out quite a bit and never had shock issues. @Acerwin did you ever do anything shackle wise?

Any off camber situation. In that photo above, any flexing at all, I would have blown the shocks.

Shock would have bottomed out before hitting the bump stop

Yes, but they were made for the stock billys specs and not a 12" stroke King rear shock mounted in a completely different location.

well good to know...so with the shock relocate and shackle flip....bump stops are pointless?

I assumed you would understand I meant aftermarket bump stops.
