I wish I had the picture still. In my pic I posted above, I did the shackle flip brackets one weekend and the shock relocation the next.

I placed the 12” shocks in the stock location because I sold my old shocks and could not get around. The 12” shocks fit, but the shaft only had about 1” or less exposed. Meaning that any flexing, would have bottomed out the shocks thus destroying them completely.

I don’t drive for work during the week so it was fine until I was able to get the relocation work done.

Things. Stuff. Lots of bad decisions.

Just did this mod last weekend with King shocks and Dakars. I'm running 255's and the tires are not touching the shock on compression, about an inch or so between the tire and shock.

I would recommend the U-Bolt flip with Wheeler's extended bumps as well as +4" brake lines. While you've got your leafs broken down, go ahead and add the leaf you removed to help with axle wrap. We set the total distance at compression between eyelets at 20" which left about 3/4 an inch of shock showing and the rubber bump at the bottom of the shock. This puts the lower shock mount slightly below the rear axle instead of flush with it. At droop, the opposite bump stop and the leaf pack became the limiting factor leaving about 3/4 an inch of shock remaining as well. I'm currently not running limit straps but I'm going to fully flex everything out to measure and verify.

Also, for the shock towers, there is a factory rivet on the top of the frame. If you flush up the side of the shock tower with that rivet and then leave a gap to weld between the two, you'll get about an 11* angle from vertical on the shocks.

Let me know if you have any questions, I'll be happy to help however I can.

You can see the rivet in this picture.

EDIT: I did not and have decided not to flip the shackles. I realize I could get more performance from this mod by doing so, but I also use my truck for truck stuff. There is still a significant gain from the longer shocks without flipping the shackles.

Good deal. I don't think you get as much drop flex with the Dakars, especially with an extra leaf in there. Not to mention it also depends on the length of your shackles. There are couple others on here that rub at full extension, but they may be running 14". I only get about 3" of compression, but plenty of drop with AP, 15 stack leafs.

Sorry for the confusion, but yes I though you meant stock bump stocks in stock location. I had a u-bolt flip already when I did this with superbumps. I had to "reshim" if you will to ensure they were engaging at the right point to protect my shocks.

There isn't much "need" for half the stuff on this forum, but you would get more down travel without an inverted shackle in addition to adding a longer shackle as well if wanted/needed. I was just trying to inform others of potential damage of mounting a 12" travel shock without accounting for minimum compression length.

The CS047R dakar leaf pack, BAMF shock relocation and 12" king work very well together. This is what I currently run on my truck.

Do not flip your shackles. This is bad. Your suspension will have greater overall performance with the standard inverted shackle that comes stock on our trucks.

You will need Extended brake lines. I use +4.

You will have to measure the relation between your axle, shock, frame and bump stop to properly setup the lower axle mount.

Also get a lot of body roll from having a shackle flip. I like going fast and that just wouldn't work for me.
