Drove to work this morning, -8 out, parked, POW, now I don't need to wonder if my surround will break.

Still looks better than that chrome thing Toyota put in it.

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.

-8  I'm freaking out in the mid 50's over here. You guys in sub zero temps should run the stocker for the winters or fiberglass the back side of the grille surround.

If mine didn't already have a hairline crack from last year I probably would, its 16* at the moment.

There was a few last year that i seen and with the cold front going on in the mid west and back east I'm sure a few more will pop.

The surround gets brittle and shrinks in the cold temps and the insert will not shrink like the plastic.

If I had a 18 I could but we will not say that the system will still work so it would be at your own risk.

Too much warpage with welding thin aluminum. I think the only way to avoid it would be a .187" or .250" gap around the whole thing. And 99% of our customers are not in cold areas and they wouldn't like the gap. Nor would the others most of the year.

But can't it still crack when wheeling, and yes 99% dont wheel but just brain storming.

Not trying to give you shit at all.

No worries I'm always for brain storming. And yes anything can happen when wheeling. We just roll the dice when wheeling our trucks and hope we don't brake things.

Damn dude, that sucks. At least mine is a straight break. Really no way to make that look good. :annoyed:

With this cold weather that has settled in the midwest I suspect there will be a chorus of POWs as all of our surrounds crack.
