After your post I considered swapping the factory insert back in. But it's cold out and I didn't want to. Then I considered staying home yesterday. That was my best idea, I should've gone with that.

I'll just think up a good story for how this happened. Offhand I'm thinking it will have something to do with rescuing puppies from dangerous terrain.

What about trying to cover it w/a wrap? I was even thinking if this happens to mine, what would I do? I settled on fill and wrap or a pinstripe of some kind, or some kind of trim to fill the gap and cut it on a matching side.

I ordered a recessed grill back in January 2016 as part of the early pre-order group. My grill never came with grommets, but never really felt the need for them. I live in the Seattle area where the elements can be quite moist and have yet to see any rust. Almost 2 years later and I still stop to appreciate my truck it never gets old(still get that, "I can't believe this is my truck feeling). People compliment my grill all the time and ask if I had it custom made and I gladly give them the website. Still haven't crossed a single Taco with this grill in person. I'm glad I didn't have to pay what these grills are going for today, but for those that have yet to decide don't hesitate these are by far the best quality grill money can buy. I've seen people buying the Pro Grill for only $200 less and it's nothing but cheap plastic. Some will arguing but it's OEM and I put nothing but OEM parts on my vehicle, but I bet if they saw these in person and could feel the quality they would change their mind. @JLee Hats off to you for making such an amazing addition to my truck. Can't wait till I'm ready for sliders.

I stand back on a daily basis and admire my truck with the Recessed grill. I was part of the first group of orders and waited 6 months or so. My unit came damaged by UPS/FedEx, but JLee was quick and took the necessary actions to fix my order. That’s awesome Customer Service and Great Product. No rust issues. No broken grill housing.

    Thanks Again JLee!

@JLee I've been off this thread for a while. I live in CO .... You mentioned fiberglassing the back of the surround. Any suggestion on how I can find someone to do that? Not even sure where to start...

That's going to be a DIY thing or tanking it to a body shop. Honestly I would just run the stock grille for the winter if your dropping below 0

I'll order the fiberglass repair kit and do a install video on our mock up grille to show how easy it is to apply.

Been running mine for a while, was part of the original buy, no issues. It's been Everywhere from sub freezing Sierra Nevada temps to the deserts of Arizona.
    Hopefully it stays that way...

Oh I also rear ended someone with no issues to the grille or surround.

I've had my BAMF grill for almost a year now and no complaints what so ever.

So what is causing people to have the broken grille pieces? Looks awesome but looks to be too common to pay $600 and suffer broken parts from it:anonymous:

Extreme cold seems to be the pattern everyone that has had ot happen has been in very cold weather. and it's less then 1% of the grilles out there on the road right now.

Roger. Just curious, love the look of the grille. Will probably wait for Black Friday to roll around if you do deals around then!
