So my sliders are starting to rust pretty bad right where the top plate meets the tubing. This is after just one winter.

The guy who powder coated them obviously doesn't do the best work. It's not just a tiny bit of rust and it wasn't that bad of a winter at all as far as salting the roads and such.

Anyone have experience with stripping powder coat and doing something else? I'd like to just drop it off to be Line-X'd but the Line-X place here is a giant rip off on pricing.

    Any thoughts, Jerry?

Yeah stripping property done powder coat sucks. But you can just scuff and paint right over the top of it so the linex guy should be able to go the same.

Have you ever had guys call you back after PC and say the top plate is rusting that quickly? I feel like calling the guy who did it but I doubt that will go anywhere. I may just buff it up and bedline it myself. Line-X tried to charge me $400 . . .

It's really hard to shoot the sliders with fill plates I shoot them hot and really cake it in the cracks to fill it then i shoot them one more time to make sure its sealed up. but I'm sure with salt getting caught in there it will rust no matter what. I would just shoot them yourself the 400 is not worth it for sliders if you ask me.

It's definitely not worth 400 ha thanks for the input. I'll wait until I'm back home this Summer and see what I can do. Sliders are still holding up great! :D

Big thanks for taking the time to install my sliders this week! It was super busy, I hope you were able to get everything done in time.

Btw for anyone thinking about sliders, please do yourself a favor and have them powder coated by jerry... For one it is kind of a pain in the arse to do on the truck, and the powder coating feels/looks/ismoredurable. For the record, it was MYchoice to do it, against Jerry's suggestion. Noted.

I'll attach a pic of the outcome :)ImageUploadedByTapatalk1396637397.466512.jpg

Yeah, I was checking out something in his shop that was powder coated and became instantly jealous, haha.

Yeah, the toughest part was hitting the gusset between the legs and body - ended up with some overspray, but barely noticeable. Oh, and I looked like a coal miner afterwards... Some how I got paint on my teeth too.

Edit, when ready for rack we'll git'r powder coated.

I've learned to just rattle can or paint stuff myself....ever since the first time I gashed the crap out of some powdercoat and was so angry about it and couldn't color match with rattle can.
