In my opinion a stealership would treat all aftermarket skids the same and I would not bring that it into your consideration when purchasing one brand versus another. I got a fumoto valve so the skid does not need to be removed for an oil change.

Bamf has the cut outs. Not sure about other brands.

Edit: 2ncd gen only, see Jlee response and explanation below

Wait, BAMF does have cutouts? So the skid doesn't need to be dropped for an oil change?!

Yep. Dont need to drop it. Fumoto valve makes it even easier and less mess.

Damnit Conner! I was just posting that in fairness. I called my friend who runs RCI (he got a good TW hookup on used skids). He changed his oil without dropping them and does not have a fumoto installed. Not a big mess at all he said.

Edit: for 2ncd gens, not sure about 3rd

It isn't, but the fumto is way easier in either regard.

but to OP: BAMF vs CBI? BAMF all day. Much better to the TW community, an active contributor here, and hasn't had the negative reviews that I've heard from CBI customers.

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
2nd gen only. the 3rd gens have the filter on the bottom. We do not make a door for that filter it creates a weak point in the most critical part of the skid plate.

I think it needs to be removed for the filter, which is on the bottom for 3rd gens? (I only have 5K miles so I'm 5K miles away from having to do this lol.)

Thankfully an oil change is an every 10K mile endeavor these days. I assume y'all have popping the plate off and putting it back on again down to a science?

I have the BAMF bolt-on sliders and they are very nice. Stout and strong with a powder coat unlike any I have seen because it is very thick

Oh shit. Am I in the 3rd gen section? Ooops. My apologies for the bad information. I'm going off my second gen when answering. Apologies.

I still vote BAMF. Great products, great service, and big contributor to our community.

    Good luck OP.

I have mobtown. Went with them for the filter door. Also like that their door does not go over the bend in the metal like rci does. Looks like they made the gussets standard on all their skids now too.

Good catch, I missed that in my earlier post but thats a very good point when looking at the design of the skids since that creates a weak point in the skids.

Per JLees comment, seems 3rd gens would not want a skid with any doors or cutouts for oil changes ("We do not make a door for that filter it creates a weak point in the most critical part of the skid plate"). No big deal, everytime you drop and reinstall the skid it gets easier.

Can't speak for CBI's customer service as I haven't bought direct from them, however I am running their overland bedrack and it's excellent quality. From an engineering students perspective it ticks a lot of the boxes for smart design. I've purched some small stuff from BAMF and Jerry was very responsive and quick. I would do business with BAMF again.

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.

If were talking on those three points "powder coating is better, or one has better customer service and stands by their product more"

I may be a little bias but Id say BAMF Our powder is the strongest in the industry, looks good lays on thick and is field repairable. (that's not that it's impenetrable) it's the best powder we can get for the application. It will out last thermoset powders every time.

As for customer service your looking at it! I'm the president/CEO of my company and the only person you will have contact with if you have questions or concerns on all platforms, Here on TW, Email, Phone, IG, FaceBook, Google you name it if you contact BAMF you will be talking to me, The owner of the company, the one that designed and knows everything there is the know about parts that leave this shop. As well every single BAMF part is 100% made right here under one roof we out source absolutely nothing!

And we always stand by our product. Our parts are designed and built to be used! Were not in the business of making things that cant be beat on. Sure were heaver than most of the competition but a apples to apples comparison we have a far superior product and we can not be beat on strength.

I don't think there is any doubt that the non-doored variants of skids would be stronger. However, how much of a difference does it make? I'd be interested to see that comparison. For me I wanted the door and the mobtown seems to be the most robust.

The rci has the door crossing over the hinge point with what appears to be no support at that point. The threaded tabs behind the door on the rci appear to be riveted on and tacked on either end and just one threaded hole per side of the door. Then there is that pop out that they provide on the bottom. Can't quite recall what they are trying to clear there, but that also looks like a weak point.

The mobtown has the door on the front facing panel of the skid and a ring welded on around the entire perimeter of the door that provudes support. The door has one threaded hole per corner. Overall seems like a more solid design.
