    Hello all!

I've been a long time lurker but have never posted here before (so go easy on me :p) I own a 2018 DCLB (Auto). This is my first vehicle with a part-time 4x4 system (former Jeep owner with an awd system)

I recently got stuck on a patch of ice in 2WD. Every time I would let off the brakes, the rear tire would continue to spin (a normal automatic transmission characteristic) which highlights how slick it was. Silly me didn't wait for the rear tires to stop spinning before engaging 4x4 resulting in a very loud "bang" either in the transfer case or front ADD. I've driven the truck at least 30 miles without noticing any abnormal noises or engagement issues.

Should I be worried about the possibility of metal shavings in the t-case / front axle or any other long term damage?

With a part-time 4x4 system, do you usually have to be in 4x4 before you get stuck?

4h or 4 low ?? if in 4h u should be ok I think 4low u need to have the truck in neutral . It can do damage to it .If u experience any issues with it I would take to dealer for inspection .

It’s common. Shouldn’t be an issue. You probably had some binding. You can engage 4x4 at moderate speeds.

yeah you do not want to engage 4HI while the rear tires are slipping...when they're slipping they're moving at a much faster rate than the front tires are that's what caused that loud bang you heard. If it were me, I'd do a drain/fill on the t-case just for peace of mind but if it's working okay you're probably fine.
