Banging sound from right rear leaf spring

I have a 95 SR5 with only 72,000 miles. I noticed a banging sound coming from the right rear when i hit a bump. I changed the shocks and no difference. I did a little research and found out it was most likely part of the upcoming recall on the leaf springs. The redesigned springs won't be ready until early 2016. Toyota sent me another notice that If I was hearing the banging sound, to take it in right away. The dealer had me call Toyota and request a case number. I did that and the dealer inspected the springs and got authorization to replace them as soon as possible. Took 65 days for the parts to come in. That fixed the problem. Rides like new again. When the new springs come in they will do it again. The right spring banged on the frame. The left spring may actually break and cut open the gas tank. Not good. Don't wait for the recall. Get it done now.

maybe 95 was a typo and he meant 05????????

first post so we shall see if this is a real post or not, one thing is for sure is there is no recall you can get on ANYTHING after its 20 years old

 

The 9 and 0 are next to each other so it is possible. If so then he needs to be in the Second gen section and not the First gen. I think the second gens did have a recall if I remember correctly.

 

Perhaps there should be a recall for this entire thread.
