Truck is looking really good!!!! Love the cap. How does that antenna compare to the stock one as far as reception goes? Is it saggin a little in the rear from the extra weight of the cap or sitting level, kinda hard to tell from the pics?

    Thanks skip!

Antenna is kind of eh right now. Playing with adding washers and leaving them off. It was cloudy today so it’s not the best conditions I guess.

To me it looks higher in the rear now because I dropped probably 50+ lbs when I took the tent and rack off. Those together were at 200ish lbs and the cap is probably just over 100. Wasn’t too much of a struggle to mount.

Nice. If you have a place to store the tent hanging I would just leave it off until you are going on a trip. Looks so clean without it!. Figured the sag might just be from the picture angles, looking good.

I’ve actually got a 4x8 trailer that I’m going to try and mount my rack to that and just make it into an “expo” trailer and just put a rack system on my shell.

Yes. I bought them. I am going to spend more money than what they are worth getting them powder coated. Then I am going to scratch them in a ditch full of mud

Can’t decide whether to mount the tent on my shell or a trailer now. Was dead set on a trailer but saw some trucks with tents mounted on the shell and I like the look. Someone make a decision for me. :annoyed:

I'd say both. There will be times you can't/don't need the trailer and it makes more sense on the truck. If you have a place to store it out of the weather hanging that's what I would do if it isn't too big of a pain to take on and off either.

So I decided what I wanted to do with the tent situation. Instead of selling my bed rack I put it to good use and mounted it on a trailer. It’s nice having a grandpa that has a full shop with welders, grinders, metal benders, metal notchers, drill press, etc. Had a blast building it and now I’ve just got to add a floor, walls and some paint and this $50 trailer will be brand new.

Need to get a 2in drop hitch so it’ll be level when towing. Not a necessity. I just like towing everything level.

    Here’s the new camping setup!

That looks like so much damn fun! What're you gonna do with the kayaks? Throw them on the truck? Or will they fit under the tent?

Oh I had a blast man! Will probably buy a welder soon just to build random stuff!

They should fit under the tent but if not I can mount some kind of “J” hooks to the side of the rack.

You should! Welding is so much fun. Though you should save that money for a locker and tires first since you have access to all that fab stuff already.
