Will do. It's a standard J-Shift. Came from a truck with non-ADD and manual hubs. There are some connectors on it but I don't know what they're for -- VSS maybe?

Ah gotcha. Just looks a little different, could be because it's off a 4cyl. I think for whatever reason I just pocture the tail housing that the t case bolts on to looking a little different than that

I think I'm just crazy, looks like a sweet find. What other parts did you get with it

I drove up to Reno to a full service scrapyard that had something like 10-15 Tacomas and a ton of 3rd gen 4Runners.

    Here's what I got:
    • A340F Transmission (150k)
    • Transfer Case (150k)
    • 4Runner 4.30 ADD Front Carrier (<60k)
    • Transmission Mount & Crossmember
    • Shifter Assembly & Trim
    • 4WD Mudflaps
    • FL Fender Flare (because mine is messed up)
I got all of that for just under $800 with all taxes and fees. They even loaded it all into my truck for me.

Hell of a deal. Sounds like you just need front and rear driveshafts and spindles and hubs then you're ready to go

Picked up the Manual Hubs, Steering Knuckles, and 2 sets of CV Axles today for $350.

I actually paid more for these than I did for the transmission somehow. Red/Black Powdercoat coming soon!

It's coming up! Just bough a manual axle tube yesterday for the front differential. Looking to do this over Christmas when I'm out of school.

I'll be rebuilding the manual hubs and powdercoating them soon.

Some recent pics when I drove up to Reno to pick up some 4x4 parts. The truck did NOT like having a transmission and a front differential in the bed going up the Sierra Nevada. I was in the truck lane the whole time.

So your front diff locks automatically when 4WD is engaged?

Where you been? Haven't seen you in a while!

Making some progress on parts. I have a manual tube axle shaft being sent to replace the vacuum ADD 4Runner one I have, and the half driveshaft plus some wiring is coming in soon too.

I'm using the unused RR DIFF LOCK and ABS light sockets to tell me if I'm in 4HI or 4LO. Planning on having some custom gauge faces made.

About to graduate army basic training tomorrow. That's awesome to see the progress you've made, manual hubs are definitely the way to go. Sounds like you're pretty much set to go for the swap

    Just rolled over 90,000 today.

    IMG_4712.jpg

Manual hub axle tube for the front differential came in the other day, as well as the correct length driveshaft for the 4x4 swap.

    IMG_4689.jpg

Swap will be happening soon, stay tuned!

I found out why you thought my transfer case looked different from yours. The transfer case between the 4 Cyl and 6 Cyl are indeed different.

    Check this post for info.
