I think Toyota leaves off seemingly 'standard' equipment on the SR to steer buyers to the higher trim models.
Personally I like the idea of the SR. All business no BS. But in reality I know I'd miss the comforts of the higher trims.

I frequently ask people when discussing my truck "think of something that you would expect any vehicle made the past 30 years to have" and then drop on them that my 2010 didn't have em

Just so happens you do have the same model as my neighbors lawn service.

Depends, if you never had the "comforts" you really dont miss them. Or you can spend pennies on the dollar (like i did) and install them yourself since most are plug and play.

Mine is an SR that has adaptive cruise and accident avoidance...but did not have delay wipers.
Agreed this is a really stupid feature decision on Toyota's part. Really easy to fix and installation though... it is actually one of the better inexpensive mods I have done.

That's true, a person could do that. I chose not to go that route since literally every other vehicle I've owned I've had to customize or build, or repair (I'm currently in the process of installing a Subaru engine in a '73 VW Thing). When I decided that I wanted a new truck, I knew I wanted something turn-key which would fill 99% of my needs from day one. My Taco has done that for me. Not everyone's needs or wants are the same though.

There's truth to this. Driving my base single cab for 9 years now..it's in the shop for a frame so they initially gave me a 2019 or 2020 Chevy Malibu. I was like WTF is all this garbage...though the heated seats were a nice thing for my wife

Before the Tacoma, I drove a 2012 Yaris purchased new, the base "L" 3-door hatchback with a stick shift. We still have it and it is probably my favorite car I've owned. No problems ever with it.

It has A/C, crank windows (but power locks), a trip computer/MPG-ometer, rear wiper/defroster, tilt wheel, and a stereo with CD player and aux and USB inputs. It's plenty of gear for a commuter car. I never cared about about not having power windows but I would have really liked to have had cruise control (easy to add the stalk, it's prewired... but requires R&R'ing the airbag), a center console/armrest and a height adjustable driver's seat.

The '21 Tacoma SR feels super loaded in comparison with radar cruise, automatic braking, keyless entry, Android auto, tinted rear glass, power windows, Bluetooth, projector headlights, color information display in the gauges, 3 USB ports. The only thing I would like is a height adjustable seat for a little more thigh support (similar issue with the small, low-to-the-floor seats in the Yaris).

Timing was perfect. Short version she had to stop taking her arthritis meds prior to surgery (spine) and her back was acting up a lot. 2 days after getting the Malibu we went out in it and I turned on the heater for her seat before she got in. She was digging it..so I told her she could just drive that for a few weeks before the surgery.

Hug these “Toyota can do no wrong” fanboys and “I’m in debt big time buying a TRD OR I really can’t afford but it’s cool and you SR guys are not” pompous twits? No way!
Actually this is what I call a fun thread. trading barbs in fun, at least in my case. :D
