If you lift your truck, the ride is going to be stiff. Period... you make sacrifices to mod. :)

Depends. Rather than sacrifice, the right term would be "re-balance" - your ride will be a little stiffer on road, better offroad.

My bad, you are correct, sir. :D

I'll re-balance for better performance off-road through. So much nicer not having to worry about the stock suspension getting blown to shit when I hit potholes on a dirt road. :D

not if u do a drop bracket lift in stage 1. that keeps suspension and stock geometry in tact. all other lifts yes it gets stiffer.

After 20+ pages of finger pointing and countless useless info and listening to both sides (in 2 different threads) and a search here and other fourms....

...... I'm still not convinced the use of spacers is causing any harm. I'm seeing the results of Driver dumbass's....yes.... Not anything a spacer caused?

Showing some pictures of broken Bilsteins and OME snapped from to much upward force is not a spacer problem.....LOL.......its a dumbass problem...... build a 1450 if you want to hit a whoop at 40mph..or even 20..... not even a stock taco is designed for that.......

Which btw all the spacer companies say "they dont recommend a spacer on top of OEM Bilstein our aftermarket coilover shock replacment" at least thats what Velocity and Readylifty said that when I bought mine. I was told the shock is to tall to accomadate a spacer kit.

For me I'm about facts and like I said in another thread.....show me some facts to convince me to take them off? And yes I've searched, and no not only here......... still all finger pointing.

I love in this thread everone gets their panties wet when a picture of Fox coilover shows up, but none of you seem to notice the 1.5-2" of up travel it showed.....you don't think thats a freakin problem??LOL

One thing that really bugs me is all the Prius wanna be enginners that hide behind the curtain without any facts...... give me facts on what the CV angle is on a taco and what the limits are and how spacer and diff drop kit exceed its limatations and cause harm from normal use, and back it up with indendant facts that nobody can dispute.

not the "it wears out my investment crap"........... wears it out how? there is no load on the front CV's when not engaged in four wheel drive?

Like a Class 1 race car, buggy, etc. all CV's have an acceptable range of travel...... ..Constant Velocity Joints (aka homokinetic or CV joints) allow a rotating shaft to transmit power through a variable angle, at constant rotational speed, without an appreciable increase in friction wear or play.

Again if spacers lifts were so bad..........lets see...... Tuff Country, RoughCountry, Velocity Off-Road , Revtek, Skyjacker, CST, Toytech, Readylift, Hell Bent Steel, Daystar, Top Guns, Truxx, Low Range, and many others would be out of biz.....

Why???? Because the facts would keep these guys from selling them. So by reading this thread, I the consumer is supposed to believe that every single company above is just out to screw their customer???? And that for over 8 years they have all been screwing us? bull$hit.............

$hit...read anything that comes in a box aftermarket and it comes with a warning and disclaimer.......... guess what 99% of what we bolt on are trucks comes with a disclaimer! Why? dumbass driver yet again........

I think just the opposite and have seen nothing but great customer care and service from 2 of the above companies listed above.............

I've logged some serious miles on tacos lifted with spacers. No complaints from me and I would reccomend them to most people for getting what most want done....larger tires and leveling out your rig....

Maybe I'm just waiting for my dumbass driving move like everyone else so I can bitch about spacers? On no wait I have a race truck for those mistakes...........

    jacket on..........:crapstorm:

My only beef is they don't allow the bump stops to work properly because it causes the shock to bottom out. What fox shock are you talking about?

Harm is a combination of equipment failure and driver use/abuse on said equipment. There is acceptable failure... i.e. snapping a shock, burfield, etc. when doing said whoops (like stated below), rock crawling, etc. Then there's just plain stupid ass failure.. like fractured/broken spacers, blown CVs from not correcting very bad CV angles (I've seen lifted trucks where the CVs are damn near perpendicular.. they won't work, sorry, turn the wheel, they pop out of the diff :) ), broken suspension due to install issues or just piss poor product. I think you're missing the point on this though.. spacers are NOT meant for serious off-roading.

:D Stock Tacos can take a lot of abuse.. I know, I put mine through hell. But yes, you are correct, if you plan on racing, build a race truck.

And.... how many people actually listen to "manufacturer recommendations"... the number of improperly lifted trucks I see... (mostly american, but definitely the likes of Nissan and Toyota too)... quite a lot don't. They just throw on whatever is going to make the truck look "cool".. recommendations be damned. Why? Because they're building friggin' mall crawlers so they can pedo-hunt for underage girls.

You can already find most of those facts readily available online, just Google around. And as for the race/buggy/etc. thing... see my first reply... then think, how many of these do you see with spacer kits and no modifications to the driveline to correct all angles? (CVs, pinions, etc.)

You do realize that most, if not all the companies you just listed also make SUSPENSION lift kits as well as offering the spacer kits, right? That's why they're still in business. :)

No, not dumbass driver.. fucking idiot lawyers who like to sue at the drop of a hat for anything that may by chance get them a nice 33% chunk of a class-action multi-million dollar lawsuit? :D If dumbass drivers were the cause of all the problems, no one would be able to drive a car, because no one could possibly obey all the regulations that manufacturers would have to put on the vehicle.

Question, how many of those serious miles were off-road on more than just mild dirt roads? How often were you putting those Tacos into door deep mud, crawling over rocks, trees, hill and dale?

Spacer kits are meant for those who want to fit bigger tires but can't afford the new suspension to do it "right" or those who want to build something to drive around town in and show off.. which is fine, but don't expect to come out with those of us who have the suspension work invested in the truck and be able to keep up without eventually causing damage to your truck, which will then lead to us having to tow you out after we laugh at you.

Now... one other thing.. show me (as you challenged us).. the statistics of just how many thousands of Tacos with spacer kits there are that haven't had issues, have off-roaded weekend upon weekend and done the other stupid ass stuff that plenty of us here on TW have done at one time or another and not complained about suspension issues during or afterwards, caused by the spacers? :D

    :crapstorm:
