Were you able to get that rod/piston out of the cylinder? I'd like to see uncle Rodney.

Plus that'll give you access to viewing the whole amount of damage. As in how recoverable the damage is.

Here is a positive note. You get to keep saving money, by re-using the ARP head studs. :D

Added an AEM oil pressure gauge last weekend, only to find that the logos on the face plates don’t match the others:anonymous:

I am not either, but I know you certainly will.
New versus old? At least you have that gauge now, and they match the brand.

Finally some success. Only took about 40 hours of wrenching, but she’s running proper again. I think I had a weak oil pump or some sort of blockage in the head. The lifters on the intake side were consistently losing prime after bleeding them and swapping them, and it had a very bad tapping noise at idle. The fix was to put everything back on the 09 short block that came off that motor. I think the timing cover or head was the real fix though

Looks like some parts fell off? I’m guessing you’re going to replace them with something different?

Yeah just gonna run it n/a for a few weeks to see how everything is overall. But I may be completing the turbo setup for low boost soon after that if all is well. That will be more of a weekend project though, just gonna drive it for now, really tired of wrenching on it

    God I hear that‼️

Sometimes I truly wish I would have paid the local shop to install a aluminum LS block 5.3 with 4.8 rods, good heads, cam, intake and quiet exhaust so it could spin pass 7k with a Tremec 5 speed. Torque is what breaks things.

After I get the coilover’s installed and the vendor gets the Heltech dialed in I’m thinking hard about selling the 07 reg. cab. With the price Tacoma’s are bringing just curious to see if it would sell with 31k miles, Magnuson supercharger, LCE equal length header, Snow water meth system, Haltech, Gauges, UCA’s w/ welded in Notches, Viking coil-over’s w/ OE X-runner rear sway, 3.73 Gears, Two piece StopTech’s, 19” forged Ray wheels, Toyota 86 seats, Leather wheel & interior bits, Stereo & alarm systems, Cruise, Wipers, Paint work, Yada Yada…
I would then use the money for a LS install in the 15 Access cab and what 2TR’s are selling for w/ 27k miles w/ service records I should be able to get top dollar for it and the trans.

been there lol! I’m considering picking up a 2TR and rebuilding it to teach my kids, and when it’s done find a truck to drop it into for them.

Thanks buddy, it’s been a journey, but glad I was able to figure it out. Couldn’t have done it without @Torspd ’s help
Hey man, life’s too short to not do what you want. I say go for it, someone will want your single cab, that’s a nice little pickup.

You should! that’d be a great project and the motor is really simple as far as how it all goes together. Great engine to get some experience turning wrenches on.
