New bearings and sending it. The engine is still in the truck (barely) with the pans taking some Tetris to get out.

I could go with another block seeing as I have two... but that means getting them machines and cleaned up which is money I don't have yet.

Good to hear! That is quite a trek out there from San Antonio. I bet you were tired after going out there and working too.

I have everything ready to get my truck tuned, just been dragging my feet on that front. Too many other projects going on at the moment. Haltech and harness are in hand though!

This is a labor of love. Thanks for sharing the build with us. I've got lots of questions the more I read the thread but I will start with the ones that sticks out the most. You may have also put it somewhere but can you discuss the performance improvements after each performance upgrade for the engine such as headers, exhaust, intake, and turbo? About how much HP difference did you notice for each upgrade? What is your current overall HP?

Thank you for the kind words, it is definitely a labor of love, and it has been a love hate relationship as well at times lol.

as far as performance upgrades, here’s a little background on a few different things I’ve run

LCE equal length header, stock intake, stock exhaust- adding just the header helped with drivability from day to day. The truck felt like it got up to speed easier and maintained speed a little better where I was downshifting previously on the stock header. The gains won’t be crazy, but it will definitely help in both the torque and hp department. It was a little better throughout the entire power band

As far as the catback exhaust goes, it didn’t make a big difference while n/a, but i feel like it helped some when the truck was supercharged going to a free flowing 2.5” catback. The stock one is 2 3/8” for reference. I also ran a 3” catback while it was supercharged and I felt like there were some gains there too vs. the 2.5”.

For intakes, it’s hard to beat the stock airbox imo. I think it’s pretty similar to the one on the v8 03-09 4Runners, so it flows well. The stock filters provide much better filter media, but it’s more restrictive than something like an aFe Pro Dry drop in filter. I ran one of those as well and I feel like it helped a little bit but I drive on a dusty road every day, and it didn’t filter as well as I would have liked. Probably a good option if you have a street truck and don’t have to deal with dust. Would be a nice pair with the header on a n/a engine

For the turbo, it has been the best upgrade to date it currently makes about 7-8lbs but it will spike to around 10psi when getting on the throttle quick before dropping back down. But it blows the URD sc out of the water as far as torque goes and at one point i was pushing 15lbs with that kit, which was more than the stock rods could handle. The URD kit was all top end power, so I felt like I was working the motor much harder to get going. The turbo is the opposite of that, i rarely have to get over 1/4 throttle now to get moving along quickly. Different driving dynamic for sure now

I have no idea what tq/power I’m making as I’ve never had the truck on the dyno but if I had to guess, I’d say somewhere around 300 rwtq, and that’s probably a conservative estimate. The way I have it set up right now I am actually pulling a lot of timing under boost because I’m worried it’s making too much power for the stock bottom end.

If you have any specific questions id be happy to try and help, thanks for stopping in:cheers:

Ok, my worthless .02 cents and free advice is worth what you pay for it, absolutely nothing…

The OEM cloth air filters are far superior and if they are keep clean they flow just as good as any other filter. If a filter flows better it’s because it’s full of holes and like BassAckwards said it’s letting dirt into the engine and combustion cylinder. I personally had a NEW out of the box oiled K&N filter let sand fill an inlet tube from letting the engine idle one cold windy morning trying to stay warm in the sand dunes.

Also Absolutely Positively do NOT get the URD system unless you want to keep replacing the blower! BassAckwards is the only owner I know of that the blower didn’t take a crap on.

There is a Magnuson supercharger system getting ready to hit the market but it needs a good tune with Heltech and a water/meth system helps. There’s no intercooler on the Magnuson system so the water/meth cools the charge into the cylinder.

Turbo system would be the way to go but no one builds a kit so the owner has to be mechanically inclined or can pay a fee…

Oh, Robert if you really think your DIY turbo is putting out that much HP & Torque I’m driving to TX for a test drive.

Looks like you're going to need to fill up your gas tank for a road trip then.

All good. Haven't made any since @BassAckwards . I might have enough material to make one more. I'll check tomorrow.

No worries, my build is still on the back burner a bit and parts collection has slowed.
