Filled with 6 qts of oil and no leaks so far! Also started dressing her up for the big day. Got the idlers, ac compressor bracket, tensioner, and motor mount perches back on. Everything else will happen when the other one comes out of the truck

Catch cans help a lot at reducing that carbon build-up. So does the occasional flogging.

Engine out! Looks like it came from under the ocean lol. I went heavier on the FIPG on the timing cover this time to hopefully prevent this

 

Well, you've done two things well. Gotten the engine out quickly, and prevented the iron block from rusting.

 

That Polydyn ceramic coating is holding up extremely well.

 

Finished up about 3pm today. The truck is sounding normal so far! Took me about 9.5 hrs from start to finish including the two I worked last night

Here’s what the Aisin disc looks like after being paired with an M-Pact pressure plate for a few thousand miles. Id say this combo is a winner

 

Impressive! So the other engine tear down had already started, and we're all waiting for you to post the pics right?

It really does seem that for the power level that you are, that clutch combo is holding up way better than anticipated. That's a pretty important find.

That’s nice! I dig the DCLB flavor. I wanted one of those when I was searching but the lack of a 6 speed drove me away ultimately.

 

Drove the truck about 50 miles yesterday and another 10 or so today. I noticed yesterday that the operating temps were 199-204*F which is a little warmer than I would like.. the old engine ran 186-194 and the only cooling system components I changed were the water pump and thermostat. I used an Aisin water pump and an OEM Toyota t-stat, but it would appear that the new t-stat wasn’t opening up all the way. After swapping my t-stat for the one out of my old motor, operating temps are back in the 186-190 range. Seems like a rare chance to get a bad part from toyota new out of the box, but I guess that’s how it goes sometimes.

 

Mine stays around 199 and rarely gets above 200. I do have a bunch more weight than you though....

That sounds about right for a heavy truck like yours. And yeah after swapping back to the old t-stat it’s back in the 186-194 range. I guess I just got a dud out of the box.

Looks like he may have, but I can’t say for sure. Hopefully not though, maybe he will drop back in here soon
