I've always had a hankering for an old Willys pickup. Ideally something I can restore but isn't a pile of rust. Something I would actually drive so I'm not looking for a collector quality vehicle.

Yesterday I drove by a red '55 Willys pickup in a front yard with a for sale sign. I gave the owner a call when I got home...

It's an original '55 Willys pickup body and interior (in great shape), sitting on a 1987 Toyota pickup frame and drivetrain (22R motor w/4WD). If you didn't crawl under it or open the hood, you would never know the real story.

It's not a real Willys but it would be a lot easier to get parts and keep running.

So, is it a bastard child or mad genius?
