Buy the best you can afford from a major "big box" retailer. In the event you have a warranty issue, out of town, you want availability. Since there are only a few domestic manufactures of batteries left, brand is almost a non issue today. Shop for the best warranty vs price.

I don't know about Duralast platinum batteries, but I do have an opinion about their seller - Auto Zone.

Time was when they would give you a new battery(prorated as needed) if yours died prematurely. They would of course test it first. Understandable.

A few years back they decided to get ugly about this. Went through a number of battles with them over their defective Duralast batteries. Maybe it was a regional-attitude. Don't know.

What I do know is I'll never buy another battery from Auto Zone.

If you do, I hope your experience is better.

This. Wal Mart/Sam's Costco Advance Auto O'Reilley etc. just buy one with the proper CCA and size and go with it. They all have to be replaced sooner or later....usually later.

I replaced my battery maybe 3 years ago. My truck sits 20 days a month without starting and lately I have to jump start my truck when I get home. After the first jump, she starts fine for the 10 days I am home. I'm wondering if it is time and I am willing to buy premium. I read a bunch of posts on here that Optima Yellow top aren't a good product anymore. Anyone buy an Optima lately?

Hate to say it , do a search. There was a great thread not too long ago. What I took away from it was that you are wasting money if you are dropping serious coin on a battery ( cough cough OPTIMA) . Like another poster said. Longest warranty at the lowest price!

Any battery that fits and is the correct CCA.

As said above most batteries are made by the same people with different labels on them. Last few batteries I have bought have came from rural king. They had a sale on a 700 something cca battery that was top post and a pretty average size. 29.99 then a 5 dollar core charge(they didn't care what you brought in for a core, I gave them 3 old tractor batteries) picked them up for 24.99 each! Work great. Put one in my wife's old Kia. One went in my Ranger, and the other went in a tractor(over kill but she will crank for days when its being a bastard) The ranger sat from July 14 to March of 15 without being started. Went out and she fired right up. Thought for sure it would be dead. It cranked slow but wasn't dead.

    Pretty happy with that one.

I have had good luck with Interstate Batteries .

I just get the most CCA in the group 24 battery

I am hard on batteries I replace them after 2 years on the daily drivers

Then they end up in project vehicles

Diehard Platinums are rebadged Odyssey batteries. They go on sale a few times a year for 20-30% off, plus if you have any Shop Your Way reward points, plus whatever other coupons are happening. You can set an alert at Slickdeals or other deal sites if you prefer to be notified when the sales happen.

Tacomas can fit a group 24 or group 27

The trucks with the tow package come stock with a group 27

AZ just started a new line for the southern states. The CCA is lower but supposedly the plates are alot different the most standard ones. I've seen alot come back but could be that the one in my area is in the hood and they play the radios allll day long then want them to charge it back up
