Never thought of this and I use FF on everything. I'll give my batteries a clean and hit them with some FF this weekend.

The Everstart MAXX 24F 750 CCA wet cell battery from Walmart was 3 years old when I sold my Camry last month. And it was still going strong. Walmart just finished a sale on those 24F MAXX batteries for $77 IIRC. That was a whole lot of battery for $77 so Walmart sold every one they had in stock.

I like the idea of having a sealed AGM battery. But the Tacoma charging system is just not set up for maintaining an AGM battery such as a Northstar X2 AGM at peak voltage. My 2020 TRD only charges at 14.0V whereas the Northstar AGM battery requires 14.4-14.8V. It is written right on the battery label itself.

The funny thing is, I have two Toyotas and two Nissans and they all use the 24F battery. Makes it simple with multiple vehicles that use the same battery.

Good luck with wally world batteries, their $60 el'cheapo's don't even last a year, and their better $100+ batteries are lucky to last 2 years. I even bought ones with the latest manufactured date on them. Should of bought a Deka.

I actually just picked up the 27F NS X2 and I had to remove my 2nd gen tray as it was much too small for it. The 24F would have fit nicely though. Am I missing something? I am at present looking for a new tray to accommodate the 27F and would be interested in what you are referring to. As it is setting on the truck shelf without one at the moment.

AFAIK, just a matter of superseded part numbers.

If my OEM battery tray is the same as everyone else's it was at least 2" too short L to R. for the 27F.
I didn't pay any attention Front to Back as at that point it didn't matter as there was no chance for a fit. Sorry, I should add that the battery I installed was the North Star X2 27F.

The 27F battery was an option on the 2nd gen. IIRC, either the tow package or the cold package would get you the 27F in the longer tray.

Before going with an AGM battery, it would be wise to get familiar with the limitations on the Tacoma charging system. On the 1st and 2nd Gen Tacos, it is a simple fix to "trick" the charging system into charging at the higher voltage required for an AGM battery. Normally a 0.5-0.6V increase on a Taco is just about right for an AGM. The fix for the 3rd Gen is quite different. But be aware that once your charging system is set up correctly to charge an AGM battery, it is not a good idea to go back to using a non-AGM battery without lowering the charging system voltage. This may be one of the reasons so few manufacturers are putting AGM batteries in their products from the factory. This linked thread has a wealth of info on the subject: The NorthStar AGM Battery + Voltage Booster Upgrade | Tacoma World
