After 3.5 years my stock battery finally gave out. I went ahead and bought a red top Optima, but i've run into a slight problem. The Optima is significantly smaller than the stock and the bracket doesnt hold it down very well, is there some kind of kit that i can get to make it fit better?

If you got a "group 34" sized battery, there should have been a "spacer" that came with the battery. You put the spacer under the battery and your stock bracket will hold it down. If your dealer doesn't or cannot get you one fire me an e-mail...I have about 10 sitting around. (I have 60 yellow tops, and 30 blue tops for work)

when you get the optima batteries there is a red plastic battery plate that comes with it...if you pull the plastic plate apart you use the thicker 1 and place that at the bottom of the optima battery...its about 2-3" tall and gives just the right amount of height to wire the positive and negative to the battery without having to make any extensions...

when I get off of work I can take a picture for you and post it if you want...

i've also got a custom optima battery mount my buddy DS made for me...I can get pics of that as well...

I'll take a pic of one tomorrow (friday) at work. Your battery is a "group 34" then?

the 75/35 batteries should be in the same group as the 34...they share the same terminal sides...

here's what my mount that came with the optima 35 looks like with the plastic mount that it came with...

    0910091554a_f597097860606da6e012e706fafbe231947d14bb.jpg

i'll get pics of my custom mount when I get home from work...didn't have time to get them yesterday...

this is the same custom mount but in my buddies XR...you can't actually see the mount in the picture...but the optima red is held down with the custom mount at the base of the battery...as you can see the typical battery tie down is no longer in use...

Well the adapter they have me didnt fit, so i dont know what to do now. Right now i have it kinda rigged up and i dont like the aesthetics of it under the hood. I guess i'll have to buy something from balistics or camburg.

I know another battery will fit but those Optima's sure look nice when under the hood.
