C31DC50D-3CC1-4840-90E9-32AB3357E9B8.jpg I finally caved in and decided to upgrade my battery cables after putting it off for so long. After looking at my options, I settled upon BatterycablesUSA.com.
They provide the option of creating your own cables custom cables using the various cable types and end fitting options. I selected their Extreme Battery Cables which is made from pure oxygen free copper, for marine and automotive use.

I received them today, and I am floored by the quality. I hate paying for someone to terminate cable connectors, but for the cost paid, it feels like the labor was free, and all the cost is in the quality materials. Finally, I have found battery cables where I don’t feel like I’ve been ripped off after purchasing them. Can’t wait to install them.

I've been thinking about making my own cables but after looking at their prices I might order from them. Would you mind posting up the lengths and terminal sizes for the main 5 wires there? Also curious where you found that positive top post adapter, I don't see that available on their website. Thanks!

I just did the Jeep cables set on my 97. Everything was pre cut and crimped, easy swap and the ol 3rz has never started so good.

    Here you go.

Cablesize, length, connector 1, connector 2

Batt+ to Alternator: 2GA, 30”, M8, M10 - This can be as short as 24", I needed 30" as I routed it differently than stock.
Batt+ to fuse box: 4GA, 20”, M8, bare - This can be as short as 16", I needed 20" as I routed it differently than stock.
    Batt- to fender grounding: 2GA, 8”, M8, M10
Grounding Engine to Frame: 2GA, 12”, M8, M8 - Added this ground connection.
    Grounding Engine to Cab firewall: 2GA, 18”, M10, M10

The other cables were for my winch solenoid and stereo fuse holder.

Yes, the cable upgrades are so good for the electrical system.
I paid $68, for some badass cables. So worth it.

All of those custom cables cost me $68. And it’s pure OFC too.

That battery terminals are Unilug Two Up from Australia. Badass terminals that I also run on my dual battery setup on my FZJ80.

    Thread revival:
Is there an interval that we should be replacing these or reason why you’d want to? Mine have somewhere between 100k-200k miles on them at the least. Truck has 300k. Truck starts fine, interior lights have dimmed a lot but that could be the bulbs themselves I guess? I’m always down for a cheap upgrade which this seems to be.

    none yet
no set interval but 1 of 3 conditions
    1) the ends are damaged/exposed copper at the battery end (well ether end) from age and/or acid attack
    2) modified electrical system, need more ampacity
    3) you want it

During installation, you might find my thread on upgrading the alternator-starter harness helpful, friend. Here you go.

That jeepcables.com picture is of their direct replacement kit, and the product description says that all cable ends are labeled. So just remove your battery, then start replacing the cables one by one. Use dielectric grease on the connections to prevent corrosion, and use the proper size socket or wrench to properly tighten the connections. If you search for Big 3 Upgrade or mod on here you'll find a few writeups about doing this job.
