Just want to know others thoughts on this. I have a 2014 Tacoma with the V6. I drive it maybe once a month. Im thinking on installing a battery disconnect on it just to keep my battery fresh. Is it worth it or is it more hassle for the truck to reset the computer settings. I have one on my gf Pontiac because of a parasitic drain and it works well. My truck doesn't drain the battery though.

I would just get a "smart" trickle charger if you can.

Should be no need to unhook it as 2nd gens have a very low parasitic load if everything is working properly

A battery maintainer would be a better option to prolong the life of the battery if it's parked somewhere near a power source.

I would probably go for a trickle charger instead just to not have to deal with the ECU relearn process. Being driven once a month should be enough to not kill the battery but a trickle charger with sensing ability would be better.

I have a Ctek smart charger. It comes with a quick disconnect that you attach to you -/+ terminals. It’s just basically a pigtail that remains there even when not in use. When you want to top off your battery, just plug it in.
I do this to keep the battery topped off when it’s not driven much. It’s fast and simple.

The suggestions for a maintainer are spot on as far as battery health and longevity go. The only advantage a disconnect has is theft prevention.

I'm a fan of solar maintainers if there's a convenient place for it. I had a westy camper that had an annoying parasitic draw so I hooked up a small solar maintainer. The camper sat for 2 years untouched when I was overseas and started right up when I came back to the states.

You don’t have a problem. Don’t fix something that ain’t broke. I wouldn’t do anything to it. Although I wouldn’t do anything to it I would probably drive it a couple more times a month running errands and such.

Your probably right about that. Never had a problem with the battery drain
