Hey everyone. This might have been asked and answered before but here goes:

Looking to put in a new battery on the truck since it’s showing signs of dying out. What recommendations do you have? Also has anyone went to a bigger battery and would you have to get a different alternator that is able to charge the larger battery?

I guess my question really is for those who swapped batteries, what battery set up is everyone running and why they chose that.

I haven't replaced mine yet. My battery has held up great so far and I have had no issues and no corrosion. I've heard some good thing about the Optima Yellow Top battery and the Odyssey battery.

Both of those batteries are supposed to last much longer than the OEM batteries from toyota

Depends how much money you wanna drop. I like deka batteries and the northstar x2 battery ... find these at batteries and bulbs store. A lot of the time they have 10% discount when order online and pick up in store. The Duracell battery is a deka battery if you’re going standard.

s2k is a nice car. I've been looking for late 90s and early 00s jdm cars like the toyota MR2, Miata, or the S2K for a side project or something. my dream car is a Toyota AE86

Personally I'm cheap....if it's bad and still under warranty I'm returning to the dealer to get a free replacement. I also have a battery/charging system tester so I can check if there are issues anywhere in my charging system.

I do, however, get the idea that you're looking to upgrade your electrical system. That choice is entirely up to you. It's not my money...

AGM platinum from Walmart is around $150. I bought one the first month a had my 2020. I just don't use flooded batteries. I've been running AGM types for over
    25 years.

For higher quality(a bit more money) Deka's the best brand for the money(IMO)

Michigan lol but most definitely a defect but I like to avoid dealerships at all cost even for something as simple as a battery swap. Plus looking to run a few more accessories like a fridge off of my switch panel so don’t want to have a weak battery for that

I had the Duracell in the diesel jeep I had, good battery. Before that I had a Sears Diehard platinum in it and it lasted like 6 years. Pretty good for a diesel in the winters. The diehard batteries were made by Oddessy then and they have a good rep. If you have it to spend on a AGM battery I'd go with Oddessy or Northstar x2.
    Otherwise in my experience Deka(duracell)
Stay away from Advance auto parts batties. I had 3 of them in previous vehicle that just couldn't cut it. They kept warranting them over a month when they would not turn the engine on a cold morning till the last one when I asked for a full refund.

Mods? We don't need no stinking mods.
My late father-in-law had an S2000 for a while. Said it was more fun to drive than either of his Porsche 911s.

I bought a Interstate at Costco for $90. It was the OEM size but had a little higher capacity. This was for a 2014 4Runner that was out of warranty.

If you have a Costco membership, their Interstate AGM batteries are a heck of a deal.
