Battery Failure, Brand, and Etc

well i know the duralast professional batteries we sell to the commercial customers are made by Bosch. I know bosch makes very good things. Its just a rebadged battery. Unfortunately they're about as expensive as an optima, outta site where you cant see them, heavy as a Gel Battery and only sold to commercial customers. If i get my hands on one......
Hell even we as employees aren't allowed to buy one, there are methods though of to which i know

 

I still have my stock battery from May 2006. 76k miles and going strong.

Did you have to change the OEM bracket to install a red top optima? If you did where can I purchase those brackets so it would hold the optima?

Just some Info i found out a while ago. There are only 5 major manufacturers of batteries in the US. Johnson Controls is the largest
Johnson controls manufactures Delphi(for GM), Advance auto batteries, Autocraft, Bosch, Durabrand, Everstart (walmart), Optima, interstate, DIEhard, among many others...

 

you really can't go wrong with an Optima Red Top. I have them currently in my 4x4 and in my diesel with nothing but praise.

How long have u had the batteries in?

 

I had an Optima Yellow top in my F-150 it was in there for 100k until I sold it and went back to the Taco, IMHO the Yellow top will be better if you are planning on adding lights, a stereo (amps), winch and any other power drawing accessory.

 

I've been thinking about getting an optima redtop for a while. I also have an 07 and about 43K miles. I just figured its time to change before I have to change it!

The southwest summers are hard on the batteries, being in NM you're probably on the last legs. Mine's still good but my truck is only a little over a year old of my ownership (bought in 2009, 2008 model). I figure I got about one more year on it. However I drive a lot, a year and change I'm almost out of warranty (35k). That usually seems to keep the batt charged pretty good so we'll see

 

Stock Battery from Nov 2004. Thought about replacing before this winter, but still going... even below zero this weekend.

Dealer has em for $90, tempted to just go with same again when the time comes.

 

I still have the stock battery in my '05 4Runner. I believe it's a Panasonic. 65K miles and still going fine.

 

if you have a stereo (subs speciffically) and are not connected with a capacitor it can be hard on your battery (and alternator) because of the sudden draw in power. i heard the newer style battery with the cylinders, for lack of better explanation, are supposed to cope with that a lot better than the conventional type. just a tip if you have or plan on installing subwoofers

 

My 97 Ranger's OEM battery lasted 10 years/105k mile and was still going when I finally replaced it. It was starting to crank a little slower during winter, so I chickened out and bought another OEM to replace. I wish I new who supplied Ford with those batteries because they were good ones!

 

Replaced the OEM battery in December last year, so that's about 4 years or so. Put in a Duralast Gold from Autozone.

From what I've read, Duralast, DieHard, Interstate, and Motorcraft are made by Johnson Controls. They also make Optima, Varta, LTH and Heliar.

 

Seems like the stock battery last atleast 3 years for everyone and still going strong for others maybe its the elevation and the way u use ur truck. Optima and diehard seem to still be the best choices
