That's why he only has 19k miles on a 5 year old truck. Too much typing, not enough driving.

Now I'd be impressed if he had 1,000,000 posts and 100,000 miles. With only 19,000 miles it says he's got CRAZY typing skilz and speed but little first-hand truck knowledge.

FYI heat kills the battery life. Cooler temperatures prolong battery life.

I guess I confused "life" with "performance". I would have expected the old battery to perform better on a warm day, and not as well when it's cold.

Correct. Performance is better when around room temperatures and starts to degrade as you go colder (or really hot).

But battery life is better in the cold, and worse in the heat.

It's all about the chemical reaction going on in there. Heat speeds up that reaction, giving good amperage, but also shortening it's life since it's using up more material in the reaction.

I guess after five New Orleans area summers, the battery realized we were at the end of May and said... "I can't do another Louisiana summer :bananadead::bananadead::bananadead:"

$119.84 plus tax for the one exactly like in the picture I posted. The Group 24 version (with terminals reversed) was $149. Go figure o_O
I brought the old battery with me, so no core charge was included.

My OE battery didn't last as long as I would have hoped. Got a matching one from Costco, standard lead acid. The interesting part is that even one year in, it turns over the engine way faster than the original ever did. I was sort of an apologist for the Toyota batteries, but something is odd about them and we usually get much longer use with them. 4yrs was quite early.

My build date is 16Dec2016. I've 26,200 miles on it.
    Original battery.

Three years in GA. One year in CO. One year back in GA now. True statement that heat is worse for batteries.
I do pull regular maintenance on the battery and am hoping it makes it a few more years yet.
Three Civic batteries all have lasted 10 years each. ('93 Civic). No good reason Taco battery shouldn't do the same. It won't but it should!

Actually, the 24F has the posts reversed. That is odd about the price difference, and the 24 has less CCA’s. For 150, the AGM 24F is available. Since, I live near a Costco, I get my batteries from them. $99 for 24F Interstate, also a Johnson Controls, I believe.

Fascinating. Every battery thread people post how OEM batteries suck and you gotta buy X. Even though they are made by the same people who make the batteries that supposedly suck. I have had to replace one battery in twenty years. I do a weekly topoff charge and a monthly equalization charge with a charger I purchased half a life ago. This lady explains it better than I can:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jCl5klSF4tE&list=FLd9eHmO4m1v0mtnOa6XOyzw&index=1

You can see a sulfated battery. The plates will be covered with brown fuzzy stuff. After proper maintenance the brown fuzzy stuff goes away and you can see the plates. And I have batteries (crappy) that last a really long time. That is all I know and all I care about.

I did but the new one failed again in a few months...no warranty after that. I checked the battery what the failure was...it had a near dead short from the positive terminal to the negative. I had bought everstart batteries years ago, and they were good. Apparently not so anymore. My tractor seems to like this el-cheapo kastar battery from autozone...so far so good.

I had a good laugh at this!

Not your math skills...but that you broke it down rather simple enough for me to understand. lol

Your pic in the sig also is distracting...lol

My oem started leaking profusely shortly after buying the truck and was replaced with an 84 month Toyota true start battery. It's still chugging along after 5.5 years with the occasional ctek float charge, but has begun to leak acid. It's 100 degrees and climbing this summer here in AZ, so a replacement is wise.

I went to Wally World today too, got an AGM 24F for $150, $174 with tax and core. If it's crap I'll go back to the Toyota Truestart, but I'm tired of dealing with leaky batteries. :notsure:

He's averaging 345 post a day for 8 years. Does he ever leave the house? 19K on a truck he's had 5.5 years. I guess not.

That is what I put in my truck 5 months ago when my OEM battery quit. Diehard Platinum. Not the AGM Platinum.
