The bigger question is how the OP has 1 million posts and only 3000 likes

Are you sure you aren’t giving up on your battery prematurely? Since the 80’s when I started driving I only remember buying maybe 5 batteries including the most recent one for my boat. I’m old so my memory might be fading and selective.

That said, in my teenage years, I could push start my 1981 Datsun pickup without getting out of my seat. A few good good leg kicks, pop the clutch, and off I went.

I doubt i have the leg strength for my 4600lb taco. Ironically, the Datsun had a 6’ bed.

No way, I'll bet it leaks or you clean it every once and while.

If my car batteries make it to 5 years (which most do), I buy a new one regardless. I don't fuck around with something so critical to the vehicles operation.

PS: does the OP have a hood scoop? That could possibly explain his post count.

I'm still on the original battery in my 2015 but It stays on a maintainer when it's not being driven and I check the electrolite level every three months without fail. [Even my Honda still has a battery that needs checking] So far, so good.

I'm a firm believer in never allowing a battery to flat. [partially drain] I got 8 years out of my Grasshopper ZT battery before it finally died and that is pretty dang good IMHO.

Modern vehicles always have a drain going on when parked. They aren't like the old pre computer everything systems.

Very true but nothing like today. Alarms, clocks, emission test done after shutdown, sensors to detect key fobs and your body, auto locking/unlocking systems and the list goes on.

If the zombie horde attack ever happens, no one is going to walk up to a modern vehicle months later, hop in, turn the key and have it start. It MAY go ''click, click, click.............''

My mid 70's Land Cruiser still had a hand crank option.

Weird, i never had a battery leak. Imo, only one i've seen that leaked in one of our shop truck years ago, was when someone replaced it, they cranked down on the retaining bracket way to much.
