Battery Issue on 2016

Aloha all, been awhile! My 2016 Taco has 16k miles. Jumped in today and get a rapid fast clicking sound?? Not sure if its a Battery, starter, or alternator?? Lights, stereo work fine? Also, my truck is tight against wall so I cant open hood? Can it be put in neutral and push back? Will brakes work under these conditions? Im on a steep hill. Last, the truck is 25 months old?? Under warranty? Or should I just spring for a new Interstate group 27 Battery? I know most here are experts!! Mahalo! drjohn

 

I had this same problem on my 2017 a few weeks ago. Battery had a bad cell in it, could feel a slight bulge. Not sure if yours would still be under warranty. If you put your key over to run? (allows the vents to turn on, not just radio) you can put in nuetral with foot on the brake. However, brakes are limited and no steering. I used my e-brake to stop and it worked fine.

 

Thx bro! Have push button start! Thought Id push it back. Have battery checked. Under $130 for battery! Dealer is such a hassle & wait time! Your truck good now?

 

If the battery is truly bad and you happen to need to buy a replacement battery after the dealer is closed and you are still in the 3/36 you can mail the receipt in to Toyota for a reimbursement, it is in the owners manual stuff. If you want to move up to a 27F then grab a battery tray from a 2nd gen with towing package.

 

Yeah I’m good now, just had to get a new battery.

 

Thx so much bro! Great news! I was thinking I only had a 2 yr warranty! But that was the free maintenance plan that came with the new vehicle! Dealerships here are only open M-F! Guess I paniced for nothing! Safe Travels All!

 

I realize this is an old thread but this just happened to my truck yesterday so I used the search function instead of starting new thread. I have an appointment with my dealer Saturday morning. Truck just wouldn't crank like the battery was dead. Service guy told me the average life span on a battery where I live (South Mississippi) is about 3 years. I always thought it was 5 years.

 

If you are still under warranty they should replace it for you.

 

I am still under warranty and the service rep said they'd replace it at no cost. I have just less than 16,000 miles and I've owned it for 22 months. Bought it new.

 

Get your free battery from the dealer,its on them the batteries dont last.
