I've tried googling this but I am not having any luck..

My battery can not hold a charge (i think) but the multimeter is telling me my amps are good.
It says; ~12.5 with engine off and ~13.9-14.2 while under load. It did drop to ~13.5 after idling for 10 minutes with the HVAC cranked, a/c on, radio on, and every light turned on.

I can jump start it no problem. Drives fine. But when I shut it off I can crank the engine over a couple times before it goes tictictictic and wont start. It still reads ~12.5 when it won't start.

This started happening two days ago after I picked my truck up from having my wheel bearing replaced. They disconnected the battery because they were working on the ABS (wheel speed sensor). But, right before I dropped the truck off I jump started my sisters car and sprayed some mud out of my engine bay with a hose.

There is a sticker on the battery that says 1/09 so i'm guessing it is over 7 years old.

Is the battery the problem? (even though the amps are good)

You might also have a poor ground condition .

Your reading Volts not amps .

What reading do you get after it sits all night ??

    That is the important one

As long as the battery reads 12 VDC(engine off) it does not appear to be the battery

Are your battery terminals clean and tight not broken??

Has the starter ever had attention ??

replace with a AGM Glass Matt Battery for less than $200 at Pep Boys,Autozone,Oreillys,Advance Auto Parts ,or NAPA and More. Much better than what you have now and check and clean all ground straps and terminals at battery !

Typically your symptoms are a bad cell. Once the draw on the battery it drops below so it cant crank.

I am happy if I get 2 Years out of any battery .

Most all the battery vendors I deal with don`t care for the AGM batteries not worth the extra money

As I can buy 2 regular batteries for the price of one AGM

For my use it is not cost effective yet!!
