I change batteries based on performance and voltage checks, my wife's 2016 Lexus RC350 still has the original factory battery and we live in central NH.

I'm a replace them every 5 years kind of guy. My 10 years running power plants on nuclear submarines taught me to not screw around with mission critical components! (mission these days equals keeping the wife safe and happy).

My current battery , I brought over a Group 24 Autozone AGM platinum battery from my wrecked 2nd Gen, that I bought second hand 7 years ago... Guy bought it for his Avalon hybrid and never installed it and couldnt return it. Pulled it out of my wreck at the tow yard and plopped it in this one.. I guess ill wait 'til rrrrr rrrrr rrrrr to replace it:)

converting to a postive-ground 6v system must've been the hardest part of that entire thing!

i'm pretty proud to state that i'm 468 months old.

driving you nuts? because that damn diagram is for me as well. might as well measure battery life in picoseconds or clothes washer spin cycles.

    51 MONTHS EQUALS 4.1 YEARS.
    56 MONTHS EQUALS 4.6 YEARS.
    47 MONTHS EQUALS 3.9 YEARS.
    41 MONTHS EQUALS 3.4 YEARS.
    30 MONTHS EQUALS 2.5 YEARS.

fvck whoever made that diagram that forced me to need to do math. they deserve every flat tire they get.

    [unhinged mode: off]

i generally get somewhere around 8-10 years out of my batteries most times. i tend to push them further because i don't feel like paying for it. i also always keep a jump starter with me, and use my battery chargers 'rejuvinate' mode to freshen up the battery enough to squeak a little more life out of it.

Hey now, washing machines are a common American unit of measurement, especially among Tacoma drivers

Exactly why I replace mine every 2 years. You do NOT want to get caught in the desert with a dead battery when
temps are 115, and have been 110+ for the last 60 days. My wife would NOT be happy about that. This happened
to me ONCE several years ago and it will NOT happen again.

Start getting suspicious after 4 years. The Toyota battery on my wife's 2012 Camry died yesterday after a little over 5 years of use. A new Diehard Silver battery was $250. I'm old, I remember when a good car battery was $80 and had a decent warranty.

I didn't drive my 2020 DCLB that much this winter and forgot to put a trickle charger on her.
She still has the original battery from 2020 and when I jumped in her a couple weeks ago and she struggled to turn over. I put the trickle on her and the battery seemed to come back to normal even without the charger, but it reminded me the battery was 5 years old.
As far as Im concerned, 5 years is about the limit for a normal OEM battery.

I just popped over to the local Interstate dealer and after a core drop, a new Interstate battery set me back about $215 or so.

My 2019 still has the original factory battery. When I bought the truck new I immediately started using a battery tender and every night when I pull into the garage I simply connect a Noco charger to the plug I leave hanging out the hood. Battery will likely last another 4-5 years at least..but I'm expecting that when it goes bad it will be like flipping off a light switch.

EDIT: I also keep a lithium jumppack in the glove box.

The wife and I regularly camp in dispersed areas for sometimes weeks at a time.

I don't care how well a battery is performing after 5 years, it's getting replaced. Being stranded miles and miles from civilization, with no cell coverage and possibly inhospitable weather, with only the CB and channel 9 or walking as a hope, it's is not a position I ever want to be in.

minor, TRD skid plate, front recovery points, Regken mud flaps, rear diff breather, AC drain pipe extended. Upgraded sound with active sub woofer, tonneau cover, CB radio.

My 2019 with OEM battery still.
My way: monitoring battery condition (once a month) with analizer
Charging/maintaining 2-4 times a year with NOCO charger.
Having power boost pack with me always, regardless of age of battery.
