My '09 lasted about 10 or 11 years, as I recall. It was still working when I replaced it. My wife's RAV4 battery went after about 4 years.

OEM batteries generally last between 3 and 5 years, many last longer. The longevity depends on numerous factors. I personally replace my batteries including the original every 5 years. Never have a problem with my batteries.

How long do you expect a battery to last?

    Reality.....3-5 years is normal.

OEM batteries could be less. The battery is a place to trim costs in a mass production of vehicles. Its a purchased part from a supplier.

A little of this and a little of that.

I average 5 years on OEM batteries. Several factors affect longevity of batteries.

You list a 2016 Tacoma in your signature area. That's 4 years, give or take 6 mos. Not too bad, IMO. Did you replace with a "yellow" top?

Agreed. Weather is a huge factor. When I lived up north in a colder climate, batteries would last 5-7 years. I live in a warmer climate now and get maybe 3-4 years out of a battery.
