    99 Tacoma 2.7L
Three days ago I got my Tacoma back from the shop. I had a brand new engine w/ zero miles put into my 1999 Tacoma 2.7L truck. It drove heavenly the first couple days I had it, but then one morning I go to start it up and it won't turn over. It's completely silent as I have the key turned to start. When I keep the key in the 'on' position the radio has no power, and the headlights + the dome light don't come on, but the red lights on the dash for like the e-brake and seat belt come on but they sorta dim/flicker. I popped the hood and saw that the battery was shifted and the battery tray holder wasn't bolted in place, so I figured that was the cause of the problem. I towed it to the shop and they had it for about two days. I picked it up once they claimed to fix it. The same problem has happened for the second time. I've been driving it for two days and now it decides to not want to start again. This time when I went to start it, I clicked the 'clutch cancel start' button then noticed the interior lights flickered off and headlights and the radio. What could be the issue here?

Taking a wild guess and say there's a loose ground wire somewhere. Or loose connection.

Have you had the system/alternator checked? I would assume your shop would have done that.

After having a major install - it could be anything that someone at the shop didn't tighten something down properly.

I've had a situation in an older car where a ground wire that was supposed to be bolted to the block, was completely off its post and just danging in place. Sometimes it would be touching the block and other times it wouldn't......and somethings the car would start and sometimes it wouldn't.

If your shop did the work......and I hope their work has a 'warranty' period. Keep taking it back until they get it right!!

Cleaning or retightening the electrical and ground connections and fully recharging the battery should solve the problem. If the battery will not take a charge, then have the battery and alternator tested. Most auto parts and battery store will do this for free.
