mine died a couple of month shy of 2 years, had corrosion and everything! called 5 dealership to try and get it replaced under warranty but they said i am over the 25K miles on the truck!!!!! got an 890 Amp interstate battery from Costco to be honest i was chocked that they put a 582 amp battery in there seems kind of low for the size of truck! my co-worker tried to jump start my truck with his new corolla and failed miserably he had a 320 Amp battery in his :I

I had a big 800cca agm battery that was only 2 years old in my old dodge. The second i put my winch on, I swapped that battery into my toyota

For anyone in the market, this is the battery I replaced it with:
    https://www.batteriesplus.com/productdetails/sli24fagmdp

Right now, $30 mail-in rebate AND you can get 10% off if you order online then go to a Batteries + Bulbs (used to be batteries plus). So, for $240 + tax you can replace w/ a badass deep cycle battery that has a 60 month replacement warranty and 840CCAs

Are the stock Tacoma battery "Maintenance Free"...mine does not say "Maintenance Free" on it. The manual does not say check the water level. Is this because we are idiots and they don't want us to get near the battery?

The caps come off for you to check and fill if needed, the old Tacoma Batteries used to have the glass eye in them which was pretty cool.

Just finishing up at the dealership now. It took 3 hours of diagnosing and troubleshooting and coffee drinking before they decided its a bad battery and needs to be replaced. Super. That's what you want in a 2017 TRD.

Right at 2 years and 26k miles. Volts okay but no current. Load tested bad. Jumped it and drove to dealer. Replaced under warranty. Never had a battery fail that fast.

Same here - though I didn't let mine fail, it was only a short matter of time before I was stranded or needed to jump on a freezing winter's night. that thing was leaking all over the place with tons of corrosion - more corrosion than I had on my 6 year old battery in my old Rav4. I got about 8 years out of that stock battery before it bit the dust... Now that I've bit the bullet, I'm OK with it - at least now I know I have a solid battery in there that will last even if it did come out of my pocket!

Mine just died...18 months. Dealership measured something like 225 CCA instead of the expected/rated 580 something CCA, so they replaced under warranty.

Buys me a little more time to save for an OGE dual-battery setup

Next month will be the 1 year mark -- so far so good. Will do a load test just to see where things are.

My 1st battery was @ around 9.67 volts Battery two was @ 10.81 volts when they died. Battery three seems to be holding firm even through the cold here...

2017 TRD built in June. So far so good.

Another battery story: I bought a new 2000 Crown Victoria for the school district I worked for. We started watching the original Motorcraft battery about 2010. Only a couple of us drove the car. We decided to carry a new battery and socket wrench to see how long the battery would last. Periodically we would change out the extra battery for a new one. I pulled the Vic in the garage before Winter Break, 2014. It gave up with final clicks in January, 2015. 155,000 miles. I have retired but that Crown Vic is used nearly every day and is on its third battery.
