    Hey Tacomaworld,

First off I should mention that I am in Canada and not in a major city, but visit one regularly, so while I don't have many battery options locally, I can always pick one up in a week or two. It gets very cold in Alberta, and can easily be in the -30 range for several days at a time.

So the time has come for me to replace my battery, and I am so lost as too what direction I should take. Originally I was just going to upgrade to a group 27F AGM, but with how expensive they seem to be here ($300+), I began to wonder if I should go to a group 31M AGM, or just bite the bullet and get a dual battery system. I don't mind buying an expensive battery, but I also don't want to waste money needlessly.

Would I need some kind of reinforcement bracket / plate for a group 31, or just for a dual system?

    My needs:

The ability to safely run Interior Canopy lights from Matt Gecko LED (https://mattgeckoleds.com/shop?olsPage=products/toyota-tacoma-led-camper-light-kit)

Additionally I would like to install some camp lights on my roof rack. 1-3 small LED pods/bars. and run them while cooking, etc, while the truck is off.

Also I plan to install a ~30" light bar in the front grille of my truck and would like to be able to run that while driving for long periods of time, and 10-15 minutes with the truck off.

What do I need? Is anything beyond a 27F AGM overkill? Should I upgrade to a bigger battery or dual system? If so what do I need? Brackets, charge controllers, etc.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks all

There’s a Northstar Battery Group Buy going on right now with those two size included. Get in on it and save a couple bucks:

With the coupon(s) on their site, it’s usually cheaper than those group buy prices.
If you order thru the group but, where do you go to get it warrantied if you need to?
Do you have to pay tax?
    Thanks.
