I live in Arizona. The summer heat here doesn't play games, 2 years ago my windshield wipers melted onto the windshield.
Last year we had 61 consecutive days of temps at or above 110.
There were 113 consecutive days of temps at or above 100.
And 40 consecutive days where the low was 90 or more.
You know it's bad when you step outside at midnight and 100 degrees feels great LOL.

Walking on pavement can cause your tennis shoes to melt and it's like stepping on chewing gum.
Drunks and druggies pass out on the pavement and end up with 3rd degree burns.

So I can buy a 4 year battery, or a 3 year battery or a 2 year battery.
Regardless of what you get you'll need to replace it in 2 years.

So I guy the 2 year batteries from Wmart - they work just as good as a 4 year battery.

If you do as described take tools with you and change in parking lot then take core back in.
    That's what do at Costco!

    Aloha kahanabob.
Easy for you to say in your 80 degree weather.
And your huge Costco with double huge parking lot.
Just take an adjustable crescent wrench and a 10 mm socket wherever you go on Maui.
How are you making out with the storms?

Makes all the sense in the world. Heat is much worse for batteries than cold is.
I was stationed in Yuma for a while, I know what you're describing. Couldn't even climb onto my aircraft without gloves on.
My truck, and it's 8 yr old battery, is in GA right now. No comparison to AZ. Easy for me to get long life out of it. The 10 yr old batts I mentioned were in my vehicle in both GA and MN. Still no comparison to AZ.
Two years on a four year batt sounds lucky for you.

AutoZone Duralast Gold. Paid a little less than $200 (on sale).
24F - perfect fit. Installed it in the parking lot in about 10 mins.

Just did the same for my wife's truck. Great product for a decent price. Will see how long it lasts...

Learned the hard way once with an alternator bought in GA --- there is only ONE AutoZone in MN if you need a warranty replacement. Had to drive a couple of hours & get a hotel just to swap out the failed alt. Geesh. It failed again about two years later, but I was back in GA then. (OEM went 11 years. Changed the non-oem one three times in the next 10 years. Finally got one which lasted until I sold the car at 30 yrs old (8 yr life on last alt). AutoZone covered their warranty without issue each time the alt failed, though.)

You have to make the trip there sound more fun than it really is. I hate shopping there.

That said, the 24f agm has a 4 year free replacement warranty and is under $200.

I don't think it's pro rated. Free replacement if tested defective. 4 years, try and beat that lol.

The EverStart battery four year Free Replacement period begins the day of the purchase and expires four years from date of purchase. If your battery tests defective within the Free Replacement Period, we will exchange your battery for a comparable new one at no charge at any Walmart store nationwide that sells auto batteries. The replacement battery provided during the Free Replacement Period carries the remainder of the original warranty period dating from your initial date of purchase or 90 days, whichever is longer. There is no other warranty outside of the Free Replacement period and expires when you sell or transfer your vehicle. For product related questions call 888.387.8278. Agreed. My experience with Toyota replacement batteries has been very good. Don't always believe what people like The Car Care Nut say. It's likely that whichever manufacturer makes them for Toyota makes them to Toyota's specs, even if they have the same cases as the big box store brands.

Battery threads are as bad as oil threads. Everyone has an opinion and after you read all the opinions you still don’t know much. Since you live in California all batteries should last 5 years or so whether in the mountains or the valley. If you live in the desert then maybe 3 years or so. The best advice already given here is to replace it with the same type oem battery you have. 8 years is a long battery life, some may go longer but if you’ve gone 8 years you’ve done damn good. Just replace it with the same as you have.
