Ive had my 2017 for 5 years, still running the original battery. Am I pushing my luck, should I start shopping for a new battery now? What is the best battery for my 4X4 TRD-Sport? Thanks.

It sounds like folks are getting 2-3, maybe 4, so I'd say you're on borrowed time,,, especially if you have cold winters.
In general, on any of my daily drivers, I'll replace after 3 years regardless, it's just not worth getting stuck, though I do carry a jump pack and the new ones hold a charge a long time, so I may stretch that out.

Battery life expectancy depends on your regional temperatures and maintenance habits:

I'm in the purple zone and replace batteries in my two vehicles every 5 years, no issues yet.

As for a replacement recommendation, have fun

    Nah.....sit tight on the battery.

Winter is coming. You won't need to replace it until the battery freezes solid and bulges the sides.

FWIW, I have a 6 yo battery. Not original. I suspect it will die this winter.

Depends. Get a jump pack, then run it to failure. That said, I proactively replace my batteries. It is a habit from not having good jump packs and living in rural areas. However, a jump pack is still good to have because sometimes things get inadvertently left on.

I just moved the 1 year old 27F that was in my 1st gen to my 3rd gen and put the less than 2 month old stock battery in the 1st gen. The cold cranking amps of the stock battery are pathetic and I like the insurance for when it drops below -20.

Living in a cold climate, I recommend a capacitor jump pack rather than a battery one.

I wouldn't push it much longer. My original 2016 TRD Sport battery croaked back in the spring with very little notice that anything was wrong. Jumper cables and/or a battery jump pack would be a wise investment as well.

I had so many issues with the OEM and 27F replacement models at the local stores. Last year, I upgraded to a 31M and have had zero complaints. Fired up every time including the extreme cold. I still carry a jump pack that's always fully charged and ready to go. But, I'm not using the jump pack as frequently.

I just replaced the battery in my daughter's Fiesta yesterday. 2015 was running on the original battery. Oil change tech said it was showing ~450 CCA, so about 1/2 what it should. 5 yrs on a Tacoma is pretty damn good.

EDIT: I should have waited, I totally missed that the CCA on the FIESTA was only 590 new. Oh well, my baby girl has a new battery!:spending:

I'd just go to Costco and get an interstate.

    If it ain't broke...…

P.S. I carry around a battery booster pack, and txs for reminding me, it's probably a good time to give it a little charge!

P.P.S. Costco & WalMart prolly have the best warranties on their Batteries for the price.

If you're not going anywhere remote, carry a jump pack and run it until it dies.

5year old original battery. Rather than run it till it dies I was proactive and threw in a Interstate 24f AGM from Costco. Rather not have any unexpected problems and I don’t think batteries are going to get less expensive in the future.

Why not another TrueStart from Toyota since you have gotten this far? Its made by Johnson Control who makes the Interstate, here at our local dealership they are brought in by Interstate and for $120 for a 27F and a 2 year warranty isn't too bad. I bought the second gen battery tray just waiting for my oem battery to die. Im pushing the 4 year mark, only 20k miles, short trips, garaged and not to cold of winters in Va. I'm retired but do work a little part time a few days a week as I have a 3rd vehicle we use as a everyday car so if won't start I will drive something else. I've been thinking of an AGM 27F, as I have the KDMAX Pro tune on my 18 Tacoma and my wife's 4Runner so charging the AGM can be adjusted in the tune. Kinda leaning on another Toyota battery.

Those old Panasonic Batteries that Toyota used to use lasted a long time.
