Hey, I'm trying to put a tie-down on my battery. Last thing I have to do before inspection. But my friend Robert, who has a Toyota similar to mine, said that the battery tie-downs they have at Advance won't work for the truck, so we will have to fab our own. Does anyone know of any battery tiedowns that will actually fit, or will I really have to make my own- and if I do, does anyone recommend a certain set-up?
I know that here in VA, you can't get away with just a bungee cord holding it in like I have right now, or else I'd just do that.

I modified my factory hold down to fit without a bottom spacer.
But your altercations would depend on what battery your installing !?

For my needs... was a simple as welding in some square stock as risers
    under the original bracket (bridge)...
plus I added a top plate (angle surround) support to keep it from shifting.

This altercation has proven rock solid and has handled years of abuse.

    * this change will require a slightly longer "J" hook to complete.

    pics might explain it better...

I have since replaced the RedTop "R" with a YellowTop...
a slight altercation to the top plate was necessary.
    Otherwise... just bolted right in.

Move to California, You can drive any piece of crap you so desire as long as you have seat belts and a windshield. I've seen some pretty crappy vehicles on the road here.

Yeah, I talked to someone who lived in Petaluma, CA that said all you have to do out there is pass a smog test or something? I can only imagine the POS's you guys see out there! I don't think I could live out there, though. I love it where I'm at. :D
