It's tough finding something in this market. I don't want to get something I'm gonna have to dump alot of money into either. The place selling this 2016 has a list that adds up to $6,000 worth of stuff

Thanks guys for all the help. Unfortunately I trade the tacoma off Saturday for a 2019 crew cab frontier 4x4 with 87,000 miles. I'm still going to check in once in awhile in case I can help someone. I hated to get rid of it but tacoma in my area were to high and outside of my budget.

The nissans arent so bad, just a bland interior. They always felt way more peppy than the tacomas. They just have less aftermarket, but a good truck all around.

My father in law has had them for years and swears by them. Guy at work has one with 400,000 on it. I plan to keep it for a long time. The 4.0 is definitely peppy especially coming from the 2.7l lol

Lol just might. I kinda like the morning Interior. Has more guages then the tacoma did. Lol. I've always been torn between the 2.

The Nissans are good trucks. The hard body trucks are were my experience with them ended.
    Super reliable.

Just be aware that the oil gauge is kind of a dummy gauge. They dumbed it down after the first couple of model years, yours is more of it has or does not have pressure. I think it’s the sending unit they swapped, it drops from middle at like 5 psi. Your smoked already

I haven't been super impressed by Nissan, their trucks seem to be pretty good but they aren't all that easy to work on and their service info is terrible.
On the 2nd gen Frontiers the stupid plastic heater pipes are a common issue.
Don't ever buy a Nissan with a CVT, they are pretty much guaranteed to fail.

I worked at Nissan for a year, I was changing CVT's nearly daily.

When I got to Toyota I surprised many with how fast I could replace a transaxle.

Yet Nissan stuck with it. Now their brand is basically dead and only appeals to rideshare and new drivers here.

    Yeah, Jatco CVTs SUCK..........

I'd probably take a Nissan over a Jeep or Chevy.
I kind of like the Ford full-size, but don't like the idea of the new 5.0 having the oil pump driven off a belt.
So that mean you're stuck with a 6.2 or 7.3

Only reason I'd consider a Ram is because "I'm getting experience" working on them.

Yep, that cluster just before the heater core is a dumb design. At least it’s easy to access, and can be bypassed, I “fixed” one that blew on a guys Xterra way back in rausch creek. They also last 10+ years usually
The heater core is also two piece with an oringed connection, but they don’t go out that often. Aftermarket ones are single piece

They have a new "Hard Body" edition here in the US.
    That should tell you someting.

A lot of people lost faith in Nissan in the 2000's

I guess it's still better than the 1st gen Frontier that had the shitty plastic heater core, at least they were relatively easy to change.

I'm definitely going to miss the toyota. But now I will see what frontiers are all about. I think all manufacturers have their issues.

Oh all the kinks are worked out in your 19.

They had rads blowing up and killing transmissions in the early models. The timing chain guides were known to fail in the first 5 years as well.

    You'll be good.

They do. Don't let us give you the idea that you made a bad choice on the new truck.
The ALL have issues. We're just biased toward Toyotas (obviously)

I mean, Toyota seems to like to blow head gaskets on all there 6 cylinder truck engine for the 1st 2 years or so after they come out.
3.0, 3.4, and the 4.0 all blew head gaskets.
