I don’t even remember what happened here several years ago. I think I was working on my rear suspension.

But it was the same damn fingertip I cut off recently.

So I actually got rid of a battle scar.

    I guess. It's a free country.
We have some with a Kevlar lining that helps with that. The cut wheel may still go through, but the injury is not as bad.

Removing the stupid side steps off a new F-150 today, whoever put them on must have given it 10 Ugga-Duggas because I was yarding with one hand with all my might and the socket slipped off. Hand flew into a sharp sheet metal edge under the body and laid my damned thumb wide open. About an inch long and completely through the skin. It’s wrapped up now, don’t want to sit for 6 hours in the emergency ward with a bunch of coughing COVID patients.

That sweatshirt has caught fire at least once, has some sort of bleach stains on it, and is by far my favorite.

Luckily I bought 2 of them probably 11 years ago now, the other one is just getting broken in.

Big ones are King suspension, SSO bumper w/winch, Pelfreybuilt sliders.
No picture, but worst close call was almost sucking my hand into my fairlead installing my winch. Wake up call for sure...not all toys are toys.

A family friend got complacent with a log splitter last year after the repetition for several days and accidentally activated it while his hand was against the wedge. Broke every bone in his hand, hes in double digits for surgeries but he can finally kind of use it again. Has scars all over his fingers like Dr.Strange

Honestly just working on the vehicles it's mostly just cuts and scrapes luckily. Now as an industrial maintenance technician I've gotten a couple good ones. First one that stands out I was running the stick welder nice and hot laying on my stomach on the ground. Soon as I get done I roll over and instantly feel something "poking" my butt cheek. Somehow I rolled over on a hot slag that burned through my work pants and boxers. Still have a scar on my butt from that (and no you can't have pictures). Was one was pulling a new belt through a conveyor which I had to stand on another one to do it. All was good until I went to jump off and my leg caught the side pan. Didn't fall too bad, but slammed my kneecap into the MCP panel that left a nice bruise for a month. Alot of places it's quicker to walk under a conveyor, many of which you have to duck. Got me one day as I crouched back up too quick and hit the back of my head on the metal support. Knocked me on the ground and left a nice goose-egg on my head. Funniest one was a co-worker put a new master cylinder on an electric tugger. They didn't bench bleed it and couldn't get it to bleed the conventional way. I decided to take the brake line off the cylinder and do it that way. All was good until I took my finger off the fitting too early and doused my entire face and front of my shirt with fresh DOT3. I was dubbed the "brake fluid bukakke king" the rest of the night...

My old DC1 on the cutter figured out why you weld with your mouth shut. We still dont know how tf it happened but he got slag under his helmet and in his mouth. We were 200 miles offshore and he had to suck it up the rest of the deployment with basically a hole in his tongue. o_O

Avoid open-end wrenches on high-torque applications if you can. Use the box end or a socket, which grip the fastener on all 6 sides to reduce rounding. If there's no access, use a flare nut wrench.

I have Chineseium "JobMate" wrenches that cost less than $15 for the whole set. Been using them for 17 years maintaining five vehicles with no issues. Just need to know the limitations of the tools by design.

I had a welder accidentally drag a bright orange TIG electrode through my finger once. (I was holding down the workpiece.) It went through with no resistance like a lightsaber and cauterized the wound as it went. Luckily didn't sever any tendons. That was also 17 years ago (before camera phones). Still have a scar to this day.

Not many from working on it, but a fair number while using it. From the heat shield of the cat when installing sliders. Knicked it a few times and thought "i should go put on gloves" right as I sent it home. Took forever to heal since it was right on the crease. Every bend split it open again.

I avoid hurting myself wrenching on things. I've found certain varieties of pain from certain things perfectly acceptable. I don't mind whacking myself in the knee driving nails while shoeing horses. Or cutting myself with a hoof knife or rasp. But damned if a wrench or socket slips loosening something and I hit something harder yet, I get downright unpleasant in a hurry. That's not acceptable pain.

Pinched my pinky between the 2 piece driveshaft as I was taking it out. Nail was all purple and wasn’t letting me sleep from the pain caused by the pressure of all the blood under the nail. So I just stuck a knife under the nail and pulled it out....what a relief

Yeh ouch to some of this I’ve read. No injuries to me by any of my Tacomas but I’ve injured a few along the way.

I did chip off part of one of my front teeth working on my dirt bike just last summer. Never, ever force a nut off loaded under pressure by a spring. Never. Extremely lucky I didn’t lose an eye.

    Y’all be careful out there.

Most noticeable one. Was trying to break loose the upstream O2 sensor on the driver side. It finally broke loose and I went flying back....I made contact with the useless bracket in the driver side wheel well. Took a nice piece of skin/fat off. This was WITH gloves on
