Looking for shop reccs in or near Santa Cruz for inspection and repair.

A friend's partner offered to sell me their tacoma at a discount due to coolant leak/head gasket issue. ('97, xcab, 200k @$8k)

Currently in WA and was going to go down to CA for family visit and thought I would stop by to check out the truck while I'm there.

    Thanks

Price seems a bit high to me but maybe I’m out of touch.
Anyways, I have a bud who lives in Santa Cruz and takes his trucks to Imported Truck Service and raves about them, I think they’re on the east side

I thought the same so I'm hoping they trim quite a bit from the price considering the repairs that need to be made. Thanks for the reccomendation!

Bought my 2002 4x4 3.4 from a lady (1st owner) who took her truck to these guys for every single service. They installed a Marlin Crawler manual transmission at some point and it started leaking soon after according to the service records i got with the truck. the tech/ service advisor wrote in the notes "the cure is worse than the disease" meaning they just topped off the trans fluid every oil change instead of addressing the problem (trans is currently on it's way out now). Also noticed they used GREEN antifreeze in the truck when doing her timing belt/ water pump service. Those two things basically steered me completely away from recommending Imported Truck Service to anyone. fyi
