So, I’ll probably get ostracized by the locals for this, but here goes...
I’m thinking about getting the 4” BDS drop bracket lift, and instead of using their 4” spacer, I’m considering installing Fox coilovers (2” lift) and a 2” spacer on top- to get my 4”.
Now, before I get torn to shreds, I want you to think about the geometry of it. A 4” spacer on top of a stock shock vs a 2” spacer on top of a Fox coilover, which is good for 2” of lift.
I already know what you’re thinking- “Spacers are bad!”
But you have to remember- the BDS 4” kit comes with a drop bracket, which will realign the LCA, so the shock won’t bottom out and break like they can without the drop bracket.
If anyone has seen anyone do this upgrade to the 4” BDS lift, please let me know!
    Thanks!

4" rough country lift with skid. 33x12.5 with 18" rims. Blacked out handles& rear Tacoma in tailgate. K&N Cai
Was considering the same thing. Got the 4" rough country lift 2 years ago and would like better coilovers instead of stock but don't want to change out the lift I currently have.

Not really sure as to why you wasted the money for the TRD Pro only to rip out the only thing that makes it a Pro really.

Anyways, do what makes you happy with your truck. Yes, spacer lifts/DB lifts are very frowned upon on here but at the end of the day they are what they are with their own negatives. Sounds like you are pretty set on the 4" with fox coilovers.

I actually just removed my 3” Tuff Country Lift that I converted to a 4” Lift in the front adding a 1” additional spacer. I had it on my truck for two years. Was a great lift and I was questioning removing it but I really really wanted the 6” BDS with 35” tires. So I just installed my DB 6” Lift and love it. I have the Fox Rear Shocks that I installed on it until my 2.5 Fox Shocks get here on Thursday. Then those will be coming off. If I can save you any money on anything let me know. I have some parts for sale. Rear 4” Fox Shocks, 4” BDS Rear Block, Stock Coil-Overs with Spacers installed already, Stock UCAs, etc etc.

I didn’t waste money, and the suspension isn’t the only thing that makes it a Pro. In fact, the suspension was zero % of the reason why I bought a Pro, because I knew I’d be lifting it anyway. I like the blacked out headlights/tail lights/fog lights, the grill, the skid plate, the interior, the exhaust and even the shifter. I also like that it does not have the JBL stereo system, because I’m ripping all that crap out to add quality components.
What I don’t know is why you waste your time deciding why I bought a Pro when all I asked for is some expert advice on whether this suspension setup will work. Lol

I think I’d still have to buy the kit from BDS to get the drop bracket and all other hardware, but I appreciate the offer.

I got an email back from Fox, and they said their 883-02-048 coilovers are good for 4-6” of lift.
This is exactly what I’ve been looking for!
So I’m probably getting the 4” BDS kit and upgrading the front end with these Fox coilovers.

Standard Fox's set a 2" lift and a 2" spacer lift on top wont net the 'proper' 4". The overall system length compressed/extended will still be too short. The whole coilover assembly needs to be longer. Fox makes specific longer coilovers for drop bracket lifts I believe, usually just with a longer lower billet shank at the bottom of the shaft to make up the needed length for the drop bracket lift

Just curious how this compares to stock front shocks/coils with a 6” spacers? I see lots of guys running that setup, probably don’t wheel though.

The guys running "stage 1" 6" lifts (strut top spacers) on a drop bracket lift still retain factory suspension geometry as if the spacer werent there. The thing I'd be concerned about more is the additional leverage and lack of support the large spacer leaves. I'd say there's nothing terribly wrong with it as long as the buyer knows their lift is for looks, and not off-road performance.
