The worst, I just can’t pass up free. It’s a curse. I go back Tuesday for a rental so they can “fix” all my wheels and I’m going to make them pay to get re-ceramic coated also. We will see if they make it right.

I don’t much like doing my ownoil changes but rushed uncaring incompetence abounds …especially when they are paid by the job not by the hour so of course they’re gonna rush to get it done and that’s just the way it is ,…..so don’t bother with them just do it yourself it’s easier in the long run really

Only use dealership when shit's really fucked up, only then will an experienced tech be assigned to your vehicle, and hopefully that's the case because many good techs don't work for dealerships because the flat rate pay is absurd.

Also be mindful when your wheels are touched. When I get new tires, the first thing I do is jack up the truck, reseat the lug nuts and torque to factory specs. I admit I am a bit OCD.

I'm more OCD that I bring the wheels, tires, and TPMS sensors to the tire installer to have them only mount the tires and balance them and give them back to me

my tuner wheels lug nut tunnels are very small, it's very easy for any power tool to scratch them

it might be a myth needs busting, I heard that overtightened lug nuts can potentially warp the rotors, so do that part myself

All bolts get tightened until the threads strip out, then back off a quarter turn, and cross thread is the same as loctite.

Do yourself a favour and find a small Mom & Pap shop that have good reviews. You support a small local business, and they generally do awesome work. My family has been going to the same little shop in the corner of our small town for 20 years now and they’ve always done amazing work for us, and have become good personal friends as well. There’s little to no downside to it, and I’ll gladly pay the slightly higher rate they charge to know that my truck is being taken care of properly and I’m supporting a small independent business as opposed to a massive multinational corporation.

I get what you are saying, but this is such a broken record bullshit excuse. Everyone has had an entry level job. So people are just supposed to be ok with subpar or often incomplete work because these dudes are “unskilled or hurried?” You would think that doing 30 oil changes a day repetitively would lead to some sort of “skill”. I think it has to do with lack of pride and professionalism. Like I said most everyone started at the bottom and most people have drive and desire to not be there long. I guess these guys that can’t hack it at oil changes because they are “rushed and unskilled” just eventually move on to Subway.

Y’all are getting me nervous. I just installed my TRD Front skid plate, and it’s very clear in the instructions that the plate does not need to be removed for the oil change. There is an access panel that is removed for that.

Are you all telling me that’s not the case?

Or that I should gently remind Toyota (or Brake Masters where I typically get my oil changed) to NOT remove the skid plate?? I do not want them fucking that up!

preemptively use the HEX bit to remove the rectangular panel of your TRD PRO skid plate before you bring it to your dealer.

just make things easier and less things for them to fuck up

I had my 2nd ToyotaCare Maintenance Plan visit on Tuesday Feb 15, 2022 in Delaware. When I received my "Rate Your Experience" with the dealership, I wrote a descriptive summary of my visit. It was a very positive appointment that resulted in a successful visit.

My 1st visit was to a different dealership in Delaware that went about as described in the first post of this thread.

During the most recent visit, I found that dialogue about my Tacoma with the service rep was instrumental in a successful visit. I explained what my expectations were and that I wanted to write an outstanding feedback rating based on the results of my visit.

I am very happy with the service I received and I told the 2 Toyota associates how thankful I was for the scheduling and service received!

I spent 10 minutes inspecting my Sport before leaving the facility and was happy with the results. Apart from asking for my wheel lock key, (which they forgot to put back in my center console) all went well.

The next service should be scheduled in 5 months time...which I feel confident will go well at this location.

I don't look at it the same way you do.

Evaluation processes are conducted differently by everyone. Interaction is key to communicating expectations so that there are no surprises.

That's what I've learned in my years on this earth.

I have used a harbor freight bubble balancer to balance all my tires for the last 10 years. The harbor freight stick on weights work well. You can easily get it better balanced than a tire shop. Even my sportscars get bubble balanced. And yes never trust a tire shop to mount your wheel/tire combo on yout truck/car.

    Work in progress...
Not singling anyone out, these people saying that the TRD etc skid plates are easier for oil changes because of the tiny little access plates are full of shit. I love having the skid plate on my Tacoma but damn the thing is a pain in the ass to change the oil and filter. Anyways...what were we talking about? But just to start to make a point about this, you have to remove 4 bolts to take off the little access plate while the OEM skid is only 2 bolts. Anyways, back to what we were talking about.

This is "by no stretch of the imagination" a simple process.

    The communication process is complex.

After that, it's each individual's responsibility to either accept the message or disregard it.

    I'm reporting a positive outcome...that's all.

I hope everyone is able to achieve success with their experiences at the dealership during the 2 year ToyotaCare Maintenance plan.

Didn't know they had that. I'm gonna have to check it out next time I'm there. The weights that are on now are crap. Had to put gorilla tape on them to make sure they don't fly off when I'm driving
