The only thing I didn't like and I changed it accordingly is the stock exhaust sounded too buzzy and made the truck sound like a giant Hoover vaccuum. Duals with angle cut tips deepened the tone nicely.

    1) No aux input/USB connector on stereo. Yo' Toyota! It's the twenty first F-ing century.

    2) The unbelievably soft paint.

    3) The notchy shifter, especially the 4-3 down shift

    4) The clutch. Too long a throw and everything happens at the very bottom or the very top.

    5) The pollution control that holds the engine rpms up during shifts. Hate that.

    6) The too short seatbacks. My shoulder blades are above the seatback although the concomitant lack of lumbar support makes slouching easy.

    7) Line of sight out of the windshield, if I sit up straight I'm looking through the tinted section. After a while slouching sucks.

    8) The rear view mirror. Even after pivoting it up as high as it can go, it's 2" too low.

    9) The A/C linked defroster. It's winter, wtf do I need A/C dehumidified defroster air when it's 10 degrees out? Regular gasoline is at $3.30  a gallon, making driving around with the A/C on really stupid. When the windows fog up I'm fully capable of pushing the little button.

    10) The Dunlop Grandtrek AT20 245/75/16 tires suck in the slippery stuff.

    11) The Nanny State Tire Pressure Monitors.

Bilstein 5100's all around, 265/70/R17 BFG AT's, TRD seat covers, True Flow XDI Intake System. Fog light mod. More to come.
Free wheeling, locking front hubs,,,,which equals better fuel economy, that's what I would like to see them offer. To me it's a no-brainer. Better fuel economy, less stress on the front diff. Sometimes basic is better.

The main and only real complaint I have is I wish the armrest on the TRD editions didn't have the fabric of the SR5's. The mismatched armrest fabric in my TRD Sport drives me nuts because it doesn't match. That is about all that I can complain about on this truck.

    Would like to have:
    Leather interior
    Hood struts
    Higher driver's seat
Less engine revs when starting cold engine
Better instrument cluster and warning lights
    Better cab interior lighting
No driveling vibration at low speed

    Othewise, I love the truck.

There are a lot of the things mentioned in this thread that I'd "like" on my truck. I bought a Taco because it's a tough, long lasting truck and very affordable. Most of the stuff mentioned here can be had if you buy a $48,000 Chev, Ford or Tundra, but for way less than 1/2 that I'm happy. I'll live with some minor inconveniences.

i dont like how the front bumper sticks out so far. i think they should bring it in plush with the grill or maybe about an inch out. also the rear drum brakes almost everyone has gone to all around disc brakes, and why do our bad ass trucks come with such shitty paint?

Nice to see the biggest complaints about our trucks are lack of lighting in the glove box and other insignificant crap like that! LOL
Not like on the Ford fourm where you'd probably hear stuff like "I don't like how my steering wheel vibrates when I go over 65 mph.":D

You're complaining about a 97 in the 2005+ section?

The 05+ have more power, more towing, power locks/windows, cruise, rear locker, rear doors that open, and tachometer.

This thread was worth reading for the tip from squad314 on hanging the gas cap on the door clips. Never heard of that.....Thanks man!!!

That should be put somewhere.....diy mods, suggestions, tips, or something......maybe it is and I've missed it....

I could drum up complaints, but don't see the point......

    I love my Taco!!!:D

Don't be pickin' on him too much--he's new, and he probably hit the link from the homepage and didn't realize which forum it was on! :D I do that all the time.
His paint is probably in better shape than ours if he's got a '97!

I'm just sayin', most of what he wants was done in the last 10 years. :D As for the paint.... what model years was Toyota buying back again for frame rot? :D
