I know this is second gens but gonna re-vive this thread with a first-gen issue.

I can't believe how sh!tty the cup holder in the center console is for the 99. As careful as I am, twice have cups fallen over, filling the polyester boot of the stick shift.

    Other than that...no complaints.

    No heated mirrors!
Crappy Gas Mileage! My 2006 F150 Supercrew 4x4 got better...
No heated seats! It is -7 degrees outside right now!
I hate the orange dash lights!!!
Tacoma's come with ugly wheels! FJ wheels are cooler!
Small gas tank. Makes road trips not so fun..

no rear defrost, all the dash vibrations and not that one that has a fix on the board, sounds like the defrost vent is loose and toyota said that sound is "normal", the excessive knocking from my engine, the annoying transmission whine, locking gas cap, locking tailgate

    Just the basics
LOL that is why on my 99 I put in the redesigned center console from an 00 or 01. It wasnt the exact same gray color but the functionality of the cupholders was a big deal. Not to mention that the center console storage area is different too! Anyone need to buy a 99 center console?

I just got a used 2009 SR5 Double Cab Tacoma about a week ago. Before that, I had a 1997 Tacoma that served me well. Here is what I don't like about my new one. Some are small, but I reserve the right to complain if I feel like it...

No locking compartment anywhere in the truck. I can't fit in an under seat locker, and I can't justify the price for a center console add-in lock box.

The factory radio sucks. This will be replaced, as soon as I get some money.

The rear doors sound hollow when you close them. The fronts are fine. Not sure why this can't be improved upon.

The drivers seat doesn't have an up/down adjustment. Being semi-tall, I would like to sit a little lower. I guess I have to get used to it.

I got two garage door openers, and only room for one in the little compartment. I guess I have to hit the mods section for this one.

Can't see out the back window with the back headrests in place. The kids will have to live without neck comfort I guess.

No locking gas compartment, rear bed compartment doors easily stolen. Again, will have to hit the mods section.

Still a great truck. It's nice to have complaints like this about a vehicle instead of major ones.

    Awesome site by the way....

Needs stronger bed rail tie down system, bed light, tailgate lock. Blower is loud & kind of weak. Weak rear leaf springs. Rod to hold hood open no big deal but WTF? Should have heated mirrors for you up north & east. Power seats would be nice. It seems Toyota decided they don't want the seat to go any higher. Really very little I don't like about my truck!

The Sport wheels ugly? No! Those FJ wheels are bad-assthough. They should come on the TRD offroads with all-terrains instead of rugged trails.

    1. I'm not crazy about the looks, I prefer a more angular body style
    2. I prefer a steel bed
    3. Definitely don't like the t-case dial, I'm going to a lever actuated case soon
    4. No fuel tank skid for reg cabs? wtf? I'm making my own anyways
    5. Not a big deal but I wish for a fully boxed frame
    6. Needs a better load capacity for people like me that need it
    7. Id like a vinyl seat/floor option

But I love my truck and will never part with it

I have a 2012 so a lot of the original gripes may not apply but

    1) Better stereo, I'm disappointed that JBL audio got bundled into an expensive package which includes Navigation
    2) Rear Power Window
    3) Bed Lights in the 3rd Break Light
    4) Locking Tailgate

Even with these deficiencies. I'm overall very happy with the truck.

haha, seriously though. There are 13 cup holders in my DC. How many people do they think I'm actually packing into my truck? Also, I hate that I can't turn off DRL's completely.
