How many of you, after a few drinks, thought would be a good idea to start a truck mod...that went south very fast.

hahaha, isn't this how every mod on a truck starts off? I've got a few of these.

Latest being an oil change. Sucked out the oil out of the dipstick and dropped down to undo the filter, undid it threw the filter in the large dumpster, only to realize I didn't have a new filter to put in the truck and had zero way of getting to to dealer for a new one. Old filter was covered in sand/cat litter from the dumpster. Turned into a 70 dollar cab ride to get a 10 dollar filter. No drinks were involved.

Started installing the electrical work to the bed of the truck, got halfway through it and found out the wire I cut was to short (this was expensive welding cable here in GP as Amazon was a two week turnaround), had to buy another 50 feet of cabling to get it to work again and almost made the same mistake. a few beer was involved on that one as well.

Installed an expedition tpam mount on the dash, went to fasten the screws to the holders to the ones off the factory radio. Proceeded to drop the screws inside the dash. Only 2 beer were involved, to this day i can still hear the screw rattling around in there. Oddly the tpam mount doesn't appear to need these securing screws, hmm, supports the iPad pro, phone and in reach with no issues.

That should be a good start, now off to the vet I go to check on the pup, who is apparently having some reactions to the drugs.

Yes. Was not my truck as I learned my lesson. Lets just say it seems easy enough to change the pedals in a mustang gt to those from a bullet. The beer and I decided that it would take maybe 20 minutes. Boy were we wrong, really wrong.

A few drinks in is a dangerous way to start shopping online, I can tell you that.

Someone right now is bullshitting themselves into thinking I'll just order these wheels and I can sell the stock ones. About ten weeks later they finally sell the stock wheels for 1/3rd of what they were asking

I always rationalize stuff will get me better fuel mileage. That's why I have a tuner, turbo back exhaust and injectors on my truck.

I drink but not when working on truck, lathe or any projects with tools. My real problem is over thinking, over engineering, start something easy that turns into a major project...like replacing the spare tire with a full size that took over a month to do and lots of $$$.
Decided to replace the plastic push-in fasteners with nut and bolt and ended up taking off the wheels, inner fender skirts, battery, air filter, washer fluid tank...

I put new TRD stickers on my old 2nd gen after a couple of beers. I ordered new ones. My wife made me think it was the end of the world, she apologized. It was only 50 bucks, but I still felt stupid.
