So now I am thinking of putting on the gate keeper and the hose clamp on the tailgate or if it will work the buddy tailgate lock and the gatekeeper. What do you guys think? Thanks for everyones inputs it's been a lot of help. Get my new tailgate next week. There were 2 other tacos that night that had their tailgates stolen. If I find that douche bag I am going to brand them with a Taco Punch to the face.

Maybe he doesn't really have them sitting at his house at all. Maybe he asks what color/year you have and goes out and gets one. If he does that he can advertise he has any color you want. I hate people like that.

Have to go out and look at mine, but I know there are VIN stickers on the doors, fenders, etc. Havn't specifically looked at the tailgate, but I bet it's there.

It's on the passenger side of the tailgate. I checked mine as soon as I saw this posting:D

He has deleted every one of his CL posts. He's a thief no doubt. Even if he wasn't a thief, he's a weird SOB for having so many tailgates.

I did the hose clamp mod. My next project is to take some molding clay
and stuff underneath the tailgate handle. I also plan to doctor the clay up with some single edge razor blades. For those of you who live in the Southwest, a prickly pear pad should also work nicely.

SofTaco I noticed that same thing on CL. There were 3 other taco tailgates stolen here in Temecula 3 weeks ago. I ran into another Taco owner without a tailgate and the same thing happened in his neighborhood. I hope someone catches this son of a bitch!

Have fun getting sued and then going to prison. Lucky for the thief, and shitty for everyone else, stuff like that is illegal. Just stick to the hose clamp or pad lock, it's probably a lot better than prison prickly pear!

I see your point but then again it could work the other way. As far as I understand... those stuff will be under the tailgate handle and out of public view. The only way your getting cut is trying to steal the tailgate.
