Just wanted to remind members on here to update/check/add emergency essentials in your vehicles.

The events that happened on I95 in Virginia a few days ago should be another reminder to keep emergency gear in your truck at all times.

There are alot of videos on YouTube showing gear and essentials but here are a few:

    - Blanket
    - Portable jump starter
    - A few bottles of water
    - Energy bars
    - Flashlight w/extra batteries
    - Recovery kit
    - Winter gloves
    Etc.

Stay safe out there brothers and sisters.

Another thing to remember is to keep your gas tank as full as possible. I don't let mine drop below 1/2 a tank . Roads close because of slides ,floods or accidents and in cold weather you might find yourself wishing you didn't pass that last gas station. Be safe out there.

If you dont have a bed cover where do you keep this secured? Inside my truck I have a roll of toilet paper and recovery gear under and behind the back seat

Get creative. Try placing things in different places. Minus the axe and shovel i keep everything behind/under rear seats

Excellent thread and posts. My wife and I talked about the I95 situation just yesterday. Not letting the tank get below 1/2 is my practice also. Keeping the phone charged is also my practice. Toilet paper is also a must.

The question neither of us could answer - and I pose her - is what to do when you have to go to the bathroom and you are stuck on slick roads? Do you poop in a can - or freeze your A$$ off running into the woods to drop 'em?

I think that's been tried before, but was outlawed because as soon as people did it, they just started pissing on other people tires instead of going to the woods! And when people got out of their cars to complain, people was sniffing their ass!

It was really a serious situation though, I commute around that area all the time, but as soon as I heard they was calling for 10" of snow during rush hour, I took that day off! But some I know couldn't take off or was just passing through, but as always, hope for the best but plan for the worst!

    Stock and staying that way
I grew up on a farm, often doing farm work, sometimes miles away from facilities. On a tractor that has a top speed around 20 mph. I keep TP in the truck. The rest will work out.

Bottled water doesn't do much good if it freezes and ruptures.

Recently we had some major road closing slides here. Something to remember, people were driving up to the slide ,stopping their cars and getting out for a look. That's when another slide came down and swept a few of them away. They died. Best to stop ,turn around and get the f out of there.

I have learned a lot for winter emergency go to kits from you. I don’t like the cold weather. I live in the desert. I do carry some stuff in case of emergencies for my environment.

I got a blanket, toilet paper, knives, flashlights, tow straps, bungees, water, jumper cables, portable battery pack, umbrella, ratchet straps, shovel, wipes, and a hair brush lol

I’m shopping around to get those portable jump starters and a new portable air compressor since the one I got broke a year ago. Anybody have recommendations?
