I've got a couple RESTOP portable toilets in the glove box. Not ideal, but I'm not lugging around a 5 gallon bucket all winter.

Well the slow wireless charger is a nice feature in the Taco. Works enough to not worry about bringing a charger.

This is a great post none the less, most of us forget until it happens to you.

This for the portable jump starter. Has a mode to start a totally dead battery.
Buy the case charger combo if available.

That IMO is the most important thing. I'm amazed at the guys who like to drive until the low fuel light comes on and then try to figure out how much farther they can go. This was an extreme situation on I-95, but I've been in similar situations for much shorter times and seen folks run out of gas.

I was parked on I-285 for about 4 hours a few years ago while a major car crash involving multiple deaths was investigated and cleared. Another time a road construction crew broke a gas main and traffic was stopped and eventually detoured. I was 5 minutes from home, but it took 2 hours. Even if traffic isn't stopped storms create power outages and you may not be able to pump gas even if you can get to it. Having enough fuel to get to the next town where the power is on may make the difference.

Power move is to poop while leaning off the tail gate.

If people wanna watch, that's their shame, not mine.

I’ve shit while sitting on a trailer tongue in the middle of the road just outside of Fallujah Iraq. When you gotta go you gotta go. Don’t run out of fuel and drink water.

My first thought was, why aren't those with 4x4 hitting the median and going back the other direction. I then watched a few videos of the incident and learned that section has almost no areas that are not blocked by metal guardrails. I'm not saying I wouldn't break out the tow strap and try to remove a piece or two to get going though...

my friend pooped in one of those black corrugated pipes that was around a tree (tree was standing, the pipe was vertical) on the side of a 6 lane road, lol. i didnt realize he was pooping until he got up and pulled his shorts up. really thought he was just sitting against the tree while we stopped on a run. we ran another 5-6 miles after, gross

I travel between NC and PA about once a month, in the winter time, I keep two 5 gallon gas cans full in the bed, in addition to what many have already listed.

I keep 5 ga of gas in the bed. Use metal cans (light breaks gas down) and make sure they are air tight so the volatile elements do not evaporate off. Personally, I like Wavian Jerry cans.

Kahtoola microspikes are good for traction on ice. I keep snow shoes and avi gear as well as clothing suitable for the expected weather. An MSR Whisperlite Universal and pot are also good to have. Don't forget tampons/pads.

A Shewee is great, but a girl needs to practice with it. My wife finds it easy to use, but the first time or two one can make a mess.

A capacitor based jump pack is best in the cold. I have the Autowit Supercap 2 in both vehicles. They are rated to -40.

I have a Viair 450P-A in the wifes car and a Viair 400P-A in my truck for compressors. I confirmed with Viair that the 'black braid coil' hose is rated to -40. The yellow Viair coil hose is not.

Meh, a trash bag and pool noodle works just fine with a bucket.

But then you have to do something with the bag. Dropping it straight on the ground is completely biodegradable.

Amazon sells a 5-gal. bucket "seat adapter" for such emergencies. I have one in my California Earthquake kit.
